Arcane Curio Cabinet Nerf

While there are new faces in the current conversation from when they nerfed the bazaar item, many were in the conversation back in chapter 1 when they did that and all of us… unanimously thought that the BP item was getting the hammer as well so this “shock” and emotion from these veterans that were in the original conversation is just grandstanding.

@Taemien, we clearly like to have options, most of those have been demonstrated herein. Being confrontational for the sake of confrontation is unproductive.

@ConanBoDk has shared some ingenious ideas on storage solutions which I have now implemented in my own game.

It is doubtful that Funcom will reverse their position on the ACC’s storage nerf to 40, so your attempt at belittling others because they want Funcom to know that they do not like that particular change serves no purpose. If Funcom does not hear about what the community likes or dislikes, they cannot implement changes to improve the game.

I have found that the converstions in this topic have been very helpful and for the most part, void of the typical toxicity differences of opinions generate in forums. For that, I thank the community for focusing on promoting solutions and not denigrating those who take the time to post.

Is it really about improving the game though? Let me see if I can make this clear here.

“I’d like for there to be an intermediary option between Large Chests and Vaults added to the game.”

That is feedback that helps improve the game, with the intent for it to be improved for everyone.

“I’d like to see the Arcane Curio Cabinet remain as is to provide an intermediary storage option.”

Seems harmless, and for many of us who have been actively playing since 3.0 came out, is an amazing option. But leaves many newer players, returning players, and those who weren’t fortunate to be able to purchase the first battlepass for whatever reason, behind in the dust.

I’ll be honest here, storage space is a pretty innocuous thing. Even in a PVP setting. Here’s what I’ve said in conversation about a similar item (it wasn’t the cabinet, but I don’t exactly remember which item it was about, don’t really want to read through a whole conversation for it) about 2 months ago:

And that even still holds true here (if it wasn’t, you would have heard something about it 6 months ago, I’ve known the cabinet had 200 slots for a long time now). But there’s a problem. If FC left the Arcane Curio Cabinet as is, that wouldn’t necessarily be a problem. The feedback of, “I’m willing to pay money for these exclusive items.” gets very problematic however.

Right now FC has done a somewhat decent job at keeping that from becoming systemic. But its very easy for someone who can make decisions to decide for example to start offering services to make things more convenient if they think they can get away with doing so.

Sadly this thread proves they can. And that is definitely the wrong route for this game.

We’ve been lucky so far that we have Dennis as lead producer who absolutely hates P2W or similar mechanics and he tries to nip them in the bud or mitigate their effects whenever they pop up.

But I’ve made the suggestion to remove stats/functionality from cosmetic intended items so that mistakes don’t happen. Mistakes like 200 vs 40 slots or giving an item the wrong stats, or lining up recipes wrong (epic armor taking regular padding and basic materials). Which will be perceived as nerfs (like this very thread) instead of corrections.

I mean dude, you literally called a legitimate bug fix a nerf and are likely going to defend that stance with a ton of tangents. Even others who are upset by this upcoming change recognize its a fix and not an actual intended nerf.

You are correct, they did not intend on it to have 200 storage, however, until now that was never mentioned to the community. Calling it a nerf instead of a correction all depends on your perspective of the change. The entire P2W argument has been clearly debunked by yourself and many others throughout this discussion. As it does not provide any advatange over what is readily available in-game.

What this discussion has clearly shown is that a) when Funcom recognizes an error, it should be communicated to the community in a timely manner and b) that the community is looking for alternate storage options.

Personally, I loved the convenience and the aesthetics the ACC provided, I also accept that others may prefer other options. I appreciate the feedback in this thread, the many opinions that have been expressed, hopefully, will provide the CE team with ideas for future updates.

Thrall 5k VS Golen; Não farma VS Faz farm;

I think the problem mostly is that if funcom are going to sell things for real cash, (and people buy them based on what they are at the time - IE part with cash based on the thing on offer) - i have a real problem with funcom bait and switching the item later on.

nerf the HP of the cabinet - and then buff the normal cupboard to be the same - then after that. Start actaully doing some QA on the things that go in the shop. (hell do some QA period).

I feel like the Battlepass, in general, is an issue, regardless of whether items in it offer stat line advantages or not.

Those who started playing later (myself, for example) missed out on Chapter 1’s Battlepass. I don’t care if items have stats, I don’t care that the ACC has more slots. I play on a private PVE server (just myself and my partner) so there’s really nothing I’d get by having those items that would give me some kind of advantage.

But I care about aesthetics so missing things that look different and add more options adds a big element of disappointment. I’d really love this entire policy revisited, even if it was putting items in the Bazaar at a steeper price individually.

And yes, in terms of the ACC (even if I don’t have it), I don’t think it should be having the available slots dropped as low as it is. Based on it’s size, it should be at least the same as a large crate, in my opinion but no less than the cupboard.

The best solution, to me, would be to see the ACC left at somewhere around 100 slots (again, based on the size of it), have the materials needed changed to tier 2, and then include a similar item that looks different (not sorcery themed, more common maybe) that’s available for everyone as a base game update. In conjunction with removing the one-time exclusivity of the BP, I feel this would be a benefit to the entire community. We could all use some variety! (And FC could make more money; they got $0 from me for Season 1 since I didn’t even own the game then but I would absolutely pay for some of the items from that battlepass if they let me because I like the looks of them).
