Archer thralls do not gain XP if they are attacking with a bow. I prefer to do most of the damage and have an archer thrall shoot the target from range. Even when I attack an NPC and the archer thrall is supporting with ranged, it will not gain XP on the kill. Only if I equip the thrall with a melee weapon and it attacks with that, does it gain experience.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
1.Have an Archer thrall follow you
2.Engage an enemy NPC
3.Kill the enemy NPC
4.Watch as your thrall gains no XP from the kill
On SinglePlayer mode, I was unable to duplicate this bug. I broke a Stygian Archer T1 on the wheel. He came equipped with Hykarian Bow and Stygian Kopesh. I removed the Kopesh and had him follow me. Issued an attack command on a small scorpion near Klael’s Stronghold and allowed my thrall to be the only combatant. He received experience from the encounter. I then removed the bow and gave him the Kopesh. Issued an attack command at another small scorpion, but I assisted when other scorpions also engaged. He received enough XP to level up. Replaced his weapons again and went to visit the Bearer NPC in Sepermaru. I was unable to avoid combat and had to assist him. Bearer did not give him enough XP to level up, but the T2 fighter did. Thrall was equipped with only the bow during the NPC encounter. I did not get a chance to check his XP after killing the bearer NPC but before killing the fighter.
Have you tested this again since posting it? I wonder if it’s a problem with your particular server. Are others on your server experiencing this also?
Yeah I tried it again, as they don’t do much damage with melee weapons, and I don’t have a sword of crom (Not for lack of trying though) he is on follow, I even bring the mob closer the thrall gets the killing blow and no exp.
