Exactly. Priorities play a huge role when it comes to your budget.
Skills that must be taught at a young age i might add. Or learn them quickly when your older. Life will demand it.

No, I wouldn’t have anyone removed. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as long as they stay respectful of others. I admit I don’t find your tone in this discussion particularly pleasant.
Not joking thank you so much for saying that. This is one of the reasons why i (and others) try to have a discussion with people here who just use the word fomo and blame a company for it. But its actually the person who has that fear. And has to work on that fear getting better questioning if they really NEED whats there to get and be reasonable about it. Its just getting triggered by exclusivity(and much more actually) which is a legit strategy used by various companies for literal ages. If you dismantle almost every marketing strategy it mostly comes down to manipulating, creating or using whatever kind of emotion to get people to buy your product. Think about advertisement in kids tv or stuff like that.
So thanks again for speaking out as someone who had that problem and is wise and brave enough to realize that there has been work to do on your end.
All in all funcoms battle-pass with the current description is as fair and non invasive as possible as long as the price suddenly doesnt go up to 30$ or € whatever it may be for you.
Agree’d, My take is Funcom got someone to look into this, and sadly there abit late to Game with BP idea.
But much like In-Game Currencies, (not enough people stood up against it) So its just part of it.
Seasons/Passes are basiclly kinda now a “thing” that to many are use to as normal.
Its very clear when i read this thread… people are just not informed, or clearly are part of issue these things keep working.
The whole “its marketing” escuse doesn’t escuse it.
I don’t get how people can support it,
Just take my money for item I want. The Extra Steps are NOT OK.
Yeah, exactly.
I know how I would react next time at a supermarket and told, ‘no, you have to buy all this stuff in one bundle’ and ‘no, you can’t just buy a newspaper, it’s all or nothing’.
At this point you’re just being a jerk. You’re getting dismissive of people who disagree with you and calling them “unreasonable” because they have a different point of view on economics. Unless you can get back to being what I’ve become used to seeing you, a polite and reasonable person, I think it would be better if you removed yourself from the discussion.
You are fixated on a very specific flavor of capitalism here. But the truth is, the world is full of businesses - successful businesses - that don’t slavishly follow the same business model. Heck, there are privately owned companies that have churned out billions of profit each year, for decades. So it seems evident that they know how money is made, and it’s a different way that you are promoting. This evidence suggests that the way you have learned to conduct business is not the only possible way to be successful.
Trying to polarize this discussion into “realist right-wing capitalist vs. leftie fairytales” is not a constructive direction to take this discussion. There is no one right way to do business, and if you insist on that, perhaps you don’t know quite as much about how capitalism works as you claim.
I still think that a MOBA battlepass plan is an incredibly horrible idea for a game that I can sometimes set down for a few months to go play a different game.
“Hunt 10 bears” when I’m usually on to just build a new base or level a new character?
Fluffing daily numbers engagement for a MOBA model is just silly for a survival game. If you’ve already made 60 and are just grinding your epic gear, you are not going to want to run around killing 10 crocodiles daily.
That’s nonsense activity that is not applicable to what we are doing.
And then the “super special” only battlepass items that you won’t be able to buy in the store later? Just preying on people fear of missing out.
Greedy plan to gain 5% more money and heavily increase unhappiness with the game long term.
I literally quoted your post in my previous reply. I could’ve collected more samples, but decided not to bloat the post. So now you’re either being dismissive, or you really don’t realize what you’re doing here, and I’m not sure which is more harmful for the discussion.
Do you guys working for Tencent marketing department? What stake do you have promoting predatory FOMO monetizations so vehemently.
I’m not saying people aren’t overreacting. That’s why I’m trying to promote moderation in this dialogue as well. Perhaps some of them are
as you say. But not all of us are, yet you appear to be blanketing everyone who disagrees with your chosen business model under this same dismissive description. I’d like to think you’re not doing this intentionally, but so far you haven’t shown any indication of considering other approaches than the one you have decided is optimal.
So perhaps you are an expert on running an international games studio. I don’t know your credentials on this subject. But even if you are, such conviction that your way is the only possible correct way of doing things is ultimately going to bite back. You know what they say about pride and falling.
Studying marketing and economics and therefore understanding the company’s pov.
Yeah that’s why mobile market overshadowing pc and console. I am also excited for Conan Immoral in the near future.
An interesting question is; will there be an implementation to stop players from making these items for players who do not have them? If my memory serves me right, at one point I did not the Architect of Argos DLC and wanted a specific fountain, so a friend on the server crafted one for me but when I went to pick up the fountain it was invisible. I ended up buying the DLC on sale later. I’m not sure if this was a bug or a way to prevent sharing DLC items if your character does not have access to them on your account.
I’ve had nice players make the Royal Armor for me when I can’t make it and I can still use it. I do not mind completing the 90 day BP and making items for other players. If they prevent a player from using the item I made for them that will be sad, especially once that BP is over and they can not get them on their own.
I hope they allow trading as this will make players more and more unique.
Merely the beginning of a new era, first costume then slowly add more “valueable” items. I heard this before from many comapnies, this won’t exception.
Merely testing the people and their stand on this “new” feature, guess what? Overly negative. Why is that? Because nobody asked for. I never heard anyone sayin, “WOOO they introducing this crappy system every game has by years later! So happy to spend money on items before they gonna be unavailable so i can be special!”
Seriously, makes me hurl and sick of these passes because every game i used to enjoy got this plague and making contents exclusive for sales.
Friend of mine already decided to move on because hes on the same level of hatred regarding BT and just move back to singleplayer games again.
Besides what is the insurances they are not gonna introduce anything impactful if they feel the need now of BTs to introduce?
When Ignasi explained elsewhere that “single use items” would be akin to “leaving an item in a box for a friend to try out,” it is tacitly stated this is what they encourage.
Was that stated on the forums? do you happen to have a way to point me towards it so I can read it?
from here (I kinda think it was in another thread, but was since merged, not sure):
Thank you, Barnes!
Imagine using EA and Ubisoft as good examples to follow after.
