What’s odd is the 170 is way less than 1/3 of the 1020 base price.
And the 1020 base price is way too high for three skins for spears of all things. That works out to ~$3 per skin. And as far as I know they’re just skins. They don’t do anything fancy like shoot lightning bolts or transform into a smaller size when you put them away or something.
A good price point for spear skins would be closer to ~$1 IMO. 170 coins works out to ~$1.41, so still high, but just scratching the surface of being worthy of consideration for purchase. At least that’s where I am on it.
With one already acquired, this one can confirm the price for the set is showing as 340 CC.
They have to, otherwise how do they completely disappear when not in the hot bar?
Is the exile hiding it in their ■■■■■■ of holding, right next to the grown @$$ mammoth, dire lion, warderobe, and spare suit of plate armour?
Now this one is wondering how much encumbrance is necessary to comfortably carry a Lion, a Witch, and a Wardrobe all at once…
I have none. The price is 510. 50% of the anchor price.
That fits with mine being 170 (not that I intend on buying it). 1/3 the price for 1/3 the new reskins.
So I wonder why they have the base price showing as 1020? That’s weird. Maybe they’re hoping if they do that people will think they’re getting a great deal and buy it.
That’s exactly what they are doing. It’s a very common, and shady, marketing tactic.
Basically, you manipulate customer perception to create a sense of getting a good bargain. It boils down to just giving them a reference point, called the anchor price. For example, attaching a much higher price to a slightly better product or service. Lets say I want you to buy a certain used car for $10,000. The way I do that is show you a car that costs $30,000.
You buy the $10,000 car and think you got a great deal. In reality, I just swindled you out of $10,000.
Businesses, especially where it involves online shopping, will do this by displaying the retail price crossed out next to the “sale” price. It’s not a sale price, it’s just what the store wants to sell it for normally.
See…now there’s your problem right there.

No regerts😂
Possibly, the price for an individual spear not as part of bundle/sale would be 340.
As there is no general catalogue of non-discounted/bundled prices this one does not know, but 340 for a single weapon skin would track with other non-bundle prices
It’s a marketing practice that is actually illegal in the UK and in Europe too I think.
It’s the lowest of the low of bad pricing practices.
Those aren’t skins. A “skin” is a texture set applied to a model. Change the textures apply them to the same model, reskin. Those spears are actually different meshes/models. Not saying the artist didn’t start with a spear shaped premade, but that is the same as starting with a piece of shaped wood and a metal ingot, and making a spear. Except they are the thrall doing the work.
This is a gear grinder form me because I used to do CG, I can model and texture. It’s in no way easy even with all the helpers.
I’ve done retail before but… people. More then once I was told to go through make everything up 15% because in a week we were having a 10% off sale.
Considering they are based in Europe I would think then that this would not be the case as their legal team would not allow that, knowing that it was illegal and all. But I suppose one will never know. ![]()
Yeah I stopped playing this game after the end of age of sorcery, I was excited for a new map or a big dlc like the Argossean one but it seems like we will be stuck with the same maps and overpriced cosmetics until after Dune releases or Exiles two comes out, if they ever get there. I refuse to be milked for my money in this dwindling economy.
Well, it was made known that there would be a 3 month Age Cycle since before the start of Age of Sorcery Chapter 1, and that there would be no more DLC’s at that point as well, so I am really unsure why you would have been excited for what was not going to happen (DLC), and extremely unlikely due to time restrictions to pump out new content (chapter cycle time limits). I am not saying that either of the things you wanted are bad things, just that with what Funcom had already said prior to the release of Age of Sorcery it was clearly not going to happen. And it is likely not going to happen any time in the near (or maybe even distant) future since they pushed this arbitrary 3 month chapter cycle upon themselves.
New content now MUST be pushed out on time every three months bugs be damned. Ideas be damned, if it’s not as grand as we would like well that’s just what it’s going to be because we don’t have the time. Deadlines and all that!
QA on BLB items? Why bother, we gotta keep pumping these suckers out!
Personally I think 3 months is too short by far. I would prefer 6 months or even a year, so they can focus on some quality. Maybe a year per chapter would be too much, plus I’m probably in the minority. I imagine a lot of people like the more frequent changes.
Honestly, this one thinks 13 weeks would be reasonable if they were fully staffed…
And had a 13 week cool down season between Ages to get everything in working order.
It’s legal because it’s not a discount price.
It’s a “bundle” price.
They won’t rework their shop to include more items or add ability to purchase pieces you want for the same reason.
Funcom can hide behind “bundle price” and push these prices because “technically” it’s a legal practice.
Bazar in Conan is cheap, I’m comparing this to other games I play.
Support what u like or watch it go away.
Its a trick, and as such its disrespectful to their customers.
