Been out of the loop, back since the new thrall leveling change. What is a relatively easy thrall for me to grab while I’m leveling (30s atm) that still has a ton of HP?? Are the relic hunters from the forbidden city still solid? Or is the black hand captain off the ship superior?? Thanks
Relic hunter is absolutely still a solid choice and so is the Blackhand captain. For a personal challenge I took Frigga Falsehope( Exiles faction tier 4 fighter) to level 19 killing unnamed city bosses and Jhil bosses. It wasn’t quick by any means but doable so you can’t hardly go wrong with any of the higher tier thralls.
If I can make a suggestion, Lian from Heirs of the North is what I’m currently using. Guaranteed spawn so he’s easy to grab and as a tier 4 from that faction he starts with 30 strength and 10 vitality out of the gate. I’m aware there are hidden base damage values and his probably is not near the higher tier thralls but starting with that chunky strength he really packs a punch. He uses Yog’s touch And does really well for me. I only just started giving him a shield and he throws out that 4 hit heavy combo and stacks bleeds like nobodies business. I would definitely recommend a shield with a 1h. To me it was a noticeable jump in the ai consistently chaining heavy combos for much better kill times. Unless of course you have a good 2h you wanna use.
Sorry for the rant or anything you may already know but I was just really impressed with Lian as I normally just go straight for a votaries or cimm zerker but I decided to switch it up since the leveling system and I was really pleased.
Thanks!! Follow up ?: do all these name fighters roughly have the same HP to start? I think the relic hunter used to start out at 7k out of the gates
Compared to followers prior to the leveling patch “most” start out with a bit less but there is one off the top of my head that starts at 8k+ and from what I understand some purge thralls can even start at 11k. I’m not going to discredit health and say it’s not important. I will say with followers now getting base armor from agility I’m sure any amount of health from a top tier fighter is enough. Lian only has 5k and I wouldn’t even care if he didn’t get another point in it. Currently I think he only has 500 armor with gear and with the health regen from gruel it’s not an issue. Healing arrows still work pretty well.
Only time I think you might want high health on a follower is fighting the arena champion… I think she sunders, can’t remember but she hits really hard and the snake bosses. The poison shreds health but they go down so quick so it’s not that bad.
The Relic Hunter Fighters start with 5.8k HP but the same cannot be said for the Archers. Those got only 3.2k if I remember correctly. I don’t know what the Funcom people were high on when designing those. Technically there is no stat difference between Archers and Fighters except for the huge HP gap. Both start with a bonus on accuracy (useless!) instead of having the Archers with ACC and the Fighters with STR for example.
Agreed. That amongst some of the perk combos need to be addressed.
Dalynsia Snowhunter is the best non-purge thrall I’ve found. She’s a pretty rare spawn I believe but she’s worth the search.
Agreed on Dalinsia! She ROCKS!
I have an alt in another clan that is using Erri, but I haven’t had a chance to see how well he works out.
Bearers used to be pretty good from a health standpoint, but at the moment the T4 named bearers at level 9 have half the health In Yamatai Warlord (Epic Flawless Vitality Armor) of a T3 Bearer at level 4 in crap Blackhand Armor I put on her just because it looked better than the light armor. >.>
I heard this is a known issue, but haven’t heard when/if they will fix it.
I don’t have any damage numbers on there since there is no way to get them, as the thrall stats page has only the useless Strength number which can be used to calculate the useless Percentage, and vice versa. They can compare one Liam against another, but tell you absolutely nothing about one Faction vs another.
I love the Relic Hunters/RHuTS as Archers, but even though their base damage is probably up there among the strongest they start with 0 strength, so I would stick to Forgotten Tribe (best HP/Point of the upper Factions and probably high base damage) or Voltaries of Skelos (probably among the highest base damage) for Fighters.
I did get a Liam and really wanted him to be good but the perks mine got ended up giving him a +3 Agility and +16 Survival, so he ended up being pretty trash at Level 20. Definitely going to grab another one when I have time, I refuse to give up on my fellow Nords being viable!
But their base damage aren’t the same. Archers have higher bow damage and fighters have higher melee damage.
Lians starting damage is comparable to other top tier thralls
(so if fx a Berserker or volcano fighter have 30 str, they do more damage, but with their starting values the damage is close to each other)
I’ve always thought that thrall base damage was sort of in 3 groups with small variations within them…
Group 1(Highest), Votaries, Relic hunter and mounds
Group 2(mid), Nordheimer, dogs of desert and Blackhand
Group 3(lowest), Exiles, Dafari and Lemurians
It is something like that.
As far as I can tell, if they all had 0 str Votaries would have the highest damage, Relic Hunters and Lost Tribe (mounds) would probably be similar to each other and Nordheimers would be lower.
It’s the 30 str Lian (and other Nordheimers) start with that kicks them up to high tier damage.
He’s been serving me well with that axe and shield combo. They used to just block before it looks like that was removed instead he throws out those heavy combos… of course that will change once I get a sword of crom
If you figure that base damage follows the same trend as base health, it would be Relic Hunters/RHuTS/Voltaries as the highest, Forgotten Tribe next, followed by Nords.
Note that since the Relic Hunters and RHuTS get 0 Strength at spawn, and there are no tamable non-purge T4 fighters, Voltaries would be pretty far ahead.
But again, we’re all just guessing since only pets and players can have real damage numbers, so as to preserve the mystery of the game or whatever.
We’re not guessing… (well I’m not). People on pc can have mods that show damage numbers and test it.
Berserkers have the highest damage out the box. They also did before thrall levelling, so it never completely followed health values (but it mostly does and did).
Now see if every PC person agreed with you, I might believe it. Problem is they don’t. A YouTuber recently put up a video declaring a different character as the strongest, and the comments for that video are littered with other PC people using the same mod to test damage and get different results.
So the numbers you get from testing using your mod are subjective, there is a lot more that goes into a hit than just the strength and base damage of the thrall. You’re still guessing, just based on different incomplete data.
I only know Firespark to say another has the highest damage and he didn’t show the damage of all high tier thralls, so to me it just seemed incomplete. especially because all other sources I seen say all the T4 Volcano fighters have the same damage.
It’s not just from my tests, It’s based on all the tests I’ve seen so far.
I didn’t say they were good tests, nor that they were correct, all I’m saying is that I’ve heard varying results from different PC people that used that mod to test damage in many ways, and I don’t trust that mod or anyone’s testing as much as I would trust an actual number on the thrall stat page, which is what we need.
