Personally, I don’t give much of a crap about the BLB or its contents. I often don’t even think of looking to see what’s there when I do log in to the game. That said - I agree with @Beharion’s attempt to set up a thread just to identify and keep updated with the current offerings so that people can easily find the information if they want it. Therefore, lets keep opinion and or complaints about the BLB to this thread (or wherever else) and let that thread remain clear and dedicated to its intended purpose.
One of the most telling signs that Funcom doesn’t give a cluck even about making money off Conan Exiles anymore is the refusal to add a catalogue or other way to acquire an item at will.
When the BLB first launched and they noted it would be small and sad, they were correct. But that was years ago. Now, it’s obvious they just don’t even care about getting people’s money.
Of course there is the argument that they got your money when you bought the Crumb Coins, and now that they have it, in an act of spite, they don’t want you to get anything with it. But that’s a bit cynical. Even for this one.
However, it does discourage the few people who may still spend money on this survival game that is ironically more of a zombie than actual zombie survival games, knowing they are unlikely to see the the item they want ever again.
Everyone, always remember…
They hired a “Monetization Expert” to guide them thru making the Battle Pass and Bizarre and implementation of Chrome Coins.
They paid someone for these feces ideas.
Perhaps, while they are accused of milking FOMO, in reality, they are just suffering from Sunken Cost fallacy.
Well, as you and I have oft pointed out, the only expertise these consultant types truly require is the ability to make money for themselves by telling senior execs what they want to hear. They don’t have to ever achieve anything real - any perceived success they can claim is the result of their ‘expertise’, while any failure is either the result of ‘flawed implementation’ of their great ideas or ‘not as bad as it would have been without their input’…
I’ll drop my comment on from another thread here. There are a bunch of unreleased items that have been in the admin panel since the Age of Heroes chapter 1 dropped.
These were supposed to be in the chapter 1 store rotation until chapter 2 released, but they never entered shop rotation due to the failure of Ch1 and the decision to hold off on new content. I expect these items will enter the store when Funcom finally gets back to making content and pretend like these shelved items weren’t sitting around. Same thing with the Dregs dungeon revamp found in the DevKit months ago which was unfinished for AoH.ch1.
Continuing the discussion from Any New Bazaar Shop Items?:
I sort of agree. To get the best value for your currency, the bigger packs need to be bought in order to receive the most out of the transaction for the customer, which results in extra CC. I’m sitting on about 3k since before my baby was born. She’s now 7m old and I still can’t get the unreleased store items that I actually want! But like you said, Lost, they got my money already.
BLB Celestial Scholar is 9 placeables for 3,008 CC or roughly $19.99 CC Pack + $9.99 CC Pack= $29.98 needed to purchase. The old DLC packs like the People of the Dragon Pack for $9.99 consisted of an entire building set, 3 different armors, several weapons, and lots of placeables. My opinion is the BLB is overpriced.
My humble opinion about BLB - it’s a overpriced piece of shit. I would agree if Funcom get rid of it and instead give us back 1000 CC priced battlepasses without time limit. I’m not ask to put CC inside, just common battlepasses like they did before. But I understand that we are dealing with FunCent, so I’m just keep dreaming
Just to add my customer feedback, I’m not refreshing my CC’s unless I see actual and verifiable trend of continued active development commitment. I will not be wasting my money on a game the company has discounted. I pointed out back in Jan over the director letter than this was flat out acknowledging maintenance mode but there is still hope in that the leaked dregs event content is something that may be coming in the near future…but I’m still waiting on various other “in progress” projects to be completed so I’m not holding my breath.
I’ve been of the mind for a year now that they just need to move into another Conan title, very similar to exiles but done correctly in the newer unreal and with code that doesn’t get broken with every update. This game was my all time favorite game but how its been managed was hugely disappointing and turned me off ever trying Dune. I have not found a game that scratches the same itch as CE. I will only play SP occasionally but mostly im learning how modding in the Devkit works in hopes of being able to make mods for a new conan game.
So Conan Exiles 2.0 or Conan RPG or Conan TBS or…? Personally I’m over any PVP and would rather see a Conan RPG that included the building mechanics of CE like Fallout 4 but I’d be down for multiplayer worlds.
I’d prefer them to move the location outside the Exiled Lands, since this location has been the mainstay for 8 years and there are limitations to new content in this setting. The next Conan should resemble exiles but look far fresher and keep the systems and features we love but have them all actually work.
My issue with the whole PvP thing, was not PvP itself- it was funcom trying to shove pvp into a game that was not really built for it in order to appeal to a wider audience. The thing is, PvE-C is totally fine, but the general PvP crowd will only ever want things to work a certain way, and we know Funcom has a history of knee-jerking systems and nerfing things across all playstyles just to “fix” pvp- which was never actually fixed. We can see them doing this exact thing right now with Dune. I won’t even touch on the cheating and hacking cause it’s been done to death and falls on deaf ears.
If they move out of the El and into Howard’s main world, then the next conan can have multiple regions to explore and will prolong the life of game. For example, we can start with 1 or 2 regions at launch and then they can build outward along the map, returning to older areas now and then to add new content, quests, dungeons, etc.
For CE 2.0. I would work up the learning points of both CE and Dune. I would call it Hyboria. Each world would be a linked group of servers. When you select your race, you select your starting server ( one of the nations within) where you can build your base etc. There would be a central arena battle zone where true PVP would occur and onlookers could bet or the winner. Also you would have randomized “wars” that would last a period of time (maybe 2 weeks) between nation where PVP would be active between the races on their nation server to have the epic battles that joel wanted but since it’s randomized, true ganking of noobs wouldn’t be feasible and total world domination just wouldn’t be feasible. Basically if you just want PVE content, you would avoid the waring nations until the war is over and then it goes back to PVE in those nations HOWEVER the races, would be open to being attacked by the waring race anywhere in Hyboria.
I would also create a social/status meter with each nation server so that your interactions would be variable depending on what you got going on. For instance you could have a +3 interactions on all NPCs of your own race while a -5 for any race race war going on. Furthermore, if you have a coterie (clan or house seems restrictive to only being the same race/nation so to add variety, you can group together with other players into a coterie of friends (NMT 5…lets say ) and so if you have a member of a nation in your coterie, you get a +1 on the social but a -1 if that is in war. If you do a quest from an NPC of that nation, you get a +2 but if you kill a person of that nation, you get a -1. But basically you get a social rating that can be used in decisions on whatever nation you are in when a vote is called (also randomized on when it happens so that no one can exploit the voting with cheese) If you don’t have a positive rating, within that nation, your vote doesn’t do anything. Yes this means that an outsider could have more status in a nation than someone who is born there but thems the breaks with status. Quit being a douche. Good standing could mean different discounts at vendors. I question whether or not there should be different bonuses for each society’s equipment and such because FC has a problem with ensuring balance is present but I do think if you have increases with also complimentary decreases it would work.
As much as I like (and want) the Pictish furniture set, the price of it right now is just way too high imo. Over 3k CC for a handful of furniture, seriously Funcom?
