Blunted Arrows for farming thralls... useless

How we are expected to knock thralls out with blunted arrows now? First off, they do more to the damage meter than on the knockdown meter, and then after thirty seconds they leave combat and they REGENERATE THE ENTIRE METER!

The issue blunted arrows always have is they inherit the damage of the bow they are fired from. So there is always damage done by every shot. Typically modders get around this by offering 0 dmg bows for these.

Just so everyone knows how archery works (and I believe it still works this way in 3.0). But arrows and bows don’t simply combine damage and armor pen. They act as two seperate attacks hitting at the same time.

A bow with 6 dmg and 9% armor pen firing an arrow with 10 damage and 6% armor pen for example is two attacks at 6dmg 9% ap and 10dmg 6ap. NOT 16dmg 15ap.

So if you use a 14 damage bow with a blunt arrow, its 14 damage is still going to hit. And its still adjusted by strength and agility. If you are looking to knock stuff out without killing it with a bow, you’ll need the smallest damage bow you can get. There’s a few Legendaries with only 1pt. But outside that, the basic hunting bow can work. Then you’ll want to have 0 in STR and AGI and then boost Authority to get the biggest boost in concussive damage you can. I don’t remember if blunt fittings work on bows, but you can try that as well. Then use armor with concussive damage.

Blunted fittings do in fact work on bows. The blunted javelin however does not accept blunted weapon fittings.

I just noticed the same thing using the blunted arrows for catching thralls. Not sure if it’s bugged or it was changed so the concussion bar resets when they lose aggro. If it’s intentional then the blunted arrows are pretty useless now.

My experience so far:
I have 15 AGI and 20 AUTH. With basic bow (7 damage) patched with Advanced Blunt weapon fitting and elixir giving +30% concussive damage I knock out level I thrall with 2 overcharged heavy attacks - they can’t even make half way through. Level III thralls take 4 overcharged attacks and 1 light attack at point blank range. Yeah, named thralls will get to you before you could shave off 1/3 of their consciousness bar, but they are not suppose be easily taken out - even with truncheons.

Thralls restoring their consciousness bar after they break aggro was intentional and was mentioned in patch notes.
