Bounty Hunter Event

I noticed that there is a reward multiplier for turning in Sorcerers or Slavers that continues to raise the last days…

Several days ago it was 50 Obulus for a sorcerer now it says 5x reward and 250 Obulus for one sorcerer.

If this is some kind of a weird catch up mechanic idea to allow players to catch up on the leaderboards…

STOP it its a lousy idea.

Its a slap in the face for the players farming Sorcs or slavers in the beginning just to realise you can get the same amount of Obulus now in 10 min you needed over an hour before.

Unless its just the Obulus and doesnt effect the Leaderborad then its ok

If the multiplier counts towards the reward its just idiotic, its like making a tennis tournament and saying, ok you came in later therefore you get twice the points, either its a tournament which has to have fixewd rules that apply during the WHOLE tournament or its just a gimmick event.

I may not be 100% correct but it seems you only get the multiplier for days you participated in the event.

As in I get the multiplier on a character that has done the turn ins each day but on a character participating for the first time several days into the event there is no multiplier.

Your analogy fails because the rewards are applied to all players, without distinction.

I will agree that a PvE leaderboard is an idea rewarding not touching grass, but that’s it.

I also agree that the idea of multiplier is so stupid… people who start 2 days later basically has no chance for the once who started from day one! ppl might not always have the possibility to grind 24/7 and scoring balance should be ideal for the once… I have grind it for 3 days for several hours realizing that the first in score has a multiplier of 5 when I only had 3 how is that a fair chance? just waste of peoples time… fully agree multiplier is basically favouring players who has no real life.. very dumb idea…

It’s the leaderboard itself that’s rewarding slavish devotion to gameplay.

The multiplier is part of the process but the leaderboard is the issue.

What is the point of having leaderboard if the scoring system is unfair to people who cant play everyday? there is a lot of players who wish to get reward for the first place but the system simply wont let you no matter how many hours you spent on grinding.

Read your question slowly and understand that you have already answered it.

A leaderboard centered around the number of incidents completed is a reward for playing the game without pause over the life of the event. The reward is that folks on the server see your name.

It’s a Dunification of Conan, because Dune did so well that it has fewer concurrent players than a 10ish year old game.

The problem is the leaderboard. If your name on the leaderboard is important, there is always single player mode. But if you want you name on the leaderboard on a public server, you must do nothing but play the game and cycle the event parameters.

There are also rewards at the end of the event for first place on the leaderboard (and only first place) - these rewards include an (apparently decent) thrall. That said, in the time it would take to get to number one on a leaderboard, you could just tame a decent thrall…

What is moderately amusing about this thread is that the complaint is now going in both directions. There is a complaint that the multiplier is unfair to those who started at the beginning, because others can just ‘turn up late and get the points anyway’, and there is a complaint that it’s unfair to those that turn up late, because they cannot get as much of a multiplier as those that started at the beginning.

I’m not sure who’s correct (nor do I really care), but what this does show is that the multiplier is perhaps just badly thought out in general, since it seems to be annoying both sides.

(Personally, I’m happy with it, because it means I don’t need to waste as much time on this nonsense in order to get the items I want. But that’s because I’m not concerned with the competition aspect.)

Made me laugh-sigh, too.

Again, we are reminded of those little kid books:

  • The cow makes: “Moo!”
  • The goat makes: “Baaaah!”
  • The dog makes: “Woof!”
  • The human makes a complaint.

Us humans’ ability to talk and being unhappy has brought us agriculture, houses, writing (for long-distance complaints), VCRs and so many other great things. But the price - listening to all of us complaining all day - was a steep one. Makes you wonder if it all was worth it.

Said the human, complaining about complaining.

You get the multiplier if you actually play the event.

1st place reward :

the followers have legendary and full set when deployed, so they’re kind of unique, and can go as far as 12k hp

Not sure about the multiplier, but from all the things I’ve seen the Scavenger Fur armor is exactly the same as the delved set.

That I don’t know. I got the items I wanted from Dogs, I already had everything from Khitan from previous events, except the bow and 1 firework which took about 5 minutes to get with the multiplier going, and haven’t fooled with it since.

Does it matter?

…humans and their silly mentality of “everything has to be earned”.

Nailed it :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: .

Grinders of universe unite!

This topic could easily go to revive the abomination topic  .

Let me remind to my fellow grinders that grinding is not difficulty, it’s just a periodic solution from Devs to make you play their game!

It’s pretty clear the multiplier is a “catch up mechanic”.

I have a local game running and got 5x the first turn-in, then 4x for the second, and I can’t remember what the 3rd Sorc from the Dregs camp gave…probably 3x.

So it appears this is a means to discourage “noliving” the event on Official.

I’m also pretty sure it’s just the rewards that are being multiplied and not some final score.

Uhm, another point about the bounty hunters:

Their captain greets us with “Hello, human.”

He’s totally not a serpentperson, eh?

Same.

I played on my longterm server to get the recipes I wanted and then ignored the event.

Whoever came up with that idea is braindead.

I played every day in the event and wasnt able to for ONE day and the multiplier restes to ZERO?

Actually WTF?

Now there is absolutely no way i could catch up to the ones who played only for the last 5 days and got the 5x multiplier…

This must be one of the most stupid ideas to ever come up in a leaderboard game…

I am pretty sure its the rewards in Blood and Obulus that are tracked for the final score otherwise it would be way to complicated to determine if you enslaved the npcs turned in a normal or a boss skull.

The only thing that seems to be worth bothering with in the No.1 rewards is the Thrall, but as far as I can see even that shares a name with the wandering slaver you can knock out and convert? I saw someone reference it as “legendary”, but I’m unsure what that means.

In general though, and as someone who has worked in the game industry designing events, you don’t want to give even the perception of something being unfair; people want to feel they’re respected, especially if you design a grindy or competitive event, because the sense of it is what they’ll take away… Especially when they run into the ultra-competitive who’ll cheat or abuse systems and each other in order to get the ego boost of coming first; they leave a bad taste for everyone else and developers really dont want to be seen to be defending anti-community behaviour, not if they want their games to be healthy long term.

Personally I just play on my own solo server now, so I’ll get the rewards from this anyway and can ignore much of the toxicity involved in trying to be No.1… It’s a shame for those of you playing on Multiplayer however, because it will feel yucky to many. But it does annoy me that no one seems to know where the “Weapon and Armor Fittings” are. Someone on Steam claims it’s on the Slaver Captains, but I must have killed 100 and not seen them yet…

It’s rather crazy. I’m seeing some people farming this event every day almost 24/7. Hardcore OCD I guess.

It does underline the good in the multiplier however. Someone with playtimes approaching whatever passes for normal are having to farm in non-optimal areas as the good spots are always taken so the increased currency helps them get all or however many of the items they want.

Shades of the old EverQuest camp checks…
