What's Next for Saga of Blood?

Hail, heroes!

Since Saga of Blood started up, hordes of bloodthirsty warriors have stepped up to the plate for glory, action, and the phat lewts. We’re all pleased with the violence you’ve committed.

Now that level caps are a thing of the past, let’s take a look at what we can look forward to as Saga of Blood continues to mature:

Server Bloodshed

Back when we first announced Saga of Blood, we talked about “Server Bloodshed”, where we track how many deaths have occurred on the server and award a special item for reaching a community goal.

What’s that goal? 1,500,000 total kills. We’re now a little over 82% towards that goal; the leaderboards are now updated with a visual progress bar so we can all see how it’s going!

The reward for the community goal is the Cloak of Selkhet (Cloak above marked with “I”); themed similarly to the armor set and armored mount you can get on Saga of Blood!

Path to Glory Leaderboard Competition

Now that Level 80 is the cap on Saga of Blood, we’re switching gears with leaderboards. From now on until the end of Saga of Blood, we’re running 2-week “seasons” where you can compete for in-game prizes by placing at the top of the leaderboards.

We’re looking at the PvP Kills leaderboards - the top 5 overall killers will earn gold, hoards, treasure chests, and the Shawl of Selkhet (Cloak above, marked “II”), a special vanity cloak. Additionally, the #1 killer for each class will earn a similar prize pack of gold, hoards, and treasure chests (Equal to the 2nd place finalist pack for the overall placements). You can double-dip these rewards; if you’re the #1 overall killer and the #1 Barbarian, for example, you’ll get both prize packs!

For the first period, we’re actually looking back when the Level 80 cap was set and looking to the next week from today (November 29, 2018); the first set of winners will be determined on the 6th of December 2018. The next period runs from the 6th to the 20th, and so on from there.

Leaderboard Top 10 Reward

If you’re in a top 10 spot on the leaderboards after the Saga of Blood ends, you’re getting another special cloak! The Shawl of Selkhet (“II”, as seen in the above competition) is yours based on overall standings across all categories tracked on the leaderboard (excluding total Guild PvP Kills).

This cloak will be awarded after Saga of Blood ends, and will be sent as a claimable item to any one of your characters once the server closes and your character is merged to the existing servers.

End of Saga Dueling Tournament

We also talked about a dueling tournament at the end of Saga of Blood - that’s still on track! Shortly before the Saga server ends, we will freeze leaderboard progress and contact the top 4 player killers for each class to invite them to a one-on-one dueling tournament.

We’ll need to coordinate with all qualifiers to establish the best time to be able to get your duels in so we can determine a winner.

Winners for each class will receive an exclusive title (“…The Guardian”, “…The Herald of Xotli”, etc), a bunch of gold, Hoards of Blood, Bloodstained Treasure Chests, and the Regalia of Selkhet (Cloak at top of page marked with “III”, a special vanity cloak) and your name on the Hall of Fame on our website. Think of the leaderboard tournament as a prelude to this.

We’ll keep you posted as we approach the Saga of Blood’s end date!

And as always, the core foundation of the Saga Server concept is that we get to try some new, different twists on the classic Age of Conan format. We’re always open to input and feedback, so we’d love to hear more about how we can make Saga of Blood (or future Saga server concepts) that much better for you.

Sounds pretty uninspired. No incentive for casual players to log back into Saga.

Free the “lobster”. Cloaks colors made for “love parade”? Some years back you had mature graohical art designers that did great work and were artists. Now you come up with art style that is RIDICULOUS as long as a kid of 12 did not do it…

Any way to decrease the pvp gap? It is quite a long process getting lvl 8,9,10 when we get 10 pvp xp per kill…

So the tournament mode fanclub guys (that nobody seems to know about🙈) r gonna farm themselves to the win😊 Yes, there is a club of guys farming themselves in tournament mode for kills… not sure i blame them to much tho… there are no one left to kill in open world🙈 and the minis r broken anyway with all theese guys who bring alts. If funcom wants to reward ppl like this with treasure and halls of fame its fine by me. They have allready done it on facebook.

The rewards are pretty dull anyway.
(No offence) but cmon, gold? Shopcases? Vanity cloak? Why would we want that? Why dont u add a legend pvp 10 wpn to that. Oh wait… we r all lvl 10 allready. Would be as pointless.

What about the other past lvl caps? No rewards there? I am the winner of 3 lvl caps on kills. Do i get some gold or shopcases? Nah, u can keep it.

It was fun for a while, but the lack of content from the devs is making this too dull. Would have been better to just stay @ 79. Seems 70% has left now after 80.

Imagine what u could have done with this server… there is zero pvp content added to this! Just copy/paste.

There r plenty of ideas on forums old and new. Ppl want options to being able to play 2vs2, 3vs3 etc. New minimaps, new gear. You need to bring something to the veteran pvp’rs. Personally id like to see T4 pvp gear. On par with T6 pve. That wont be to OP cuz of the reduced def stats on it. I am very dissapointed that nothing like this came with the pvp saga. You have just added pvp and aa xp to an old cloak & neck. Thats all😱 very dissapointing indeed.

Last saga for pve u gave 1 RF ring or close to 2 RF rings actually. With the buffed RF rewards and claims. U also gave t4 wpns and accesories in form of RF tokens. All this is like 10 times better rewards for pvp then this pvp saga.

If u ever make a new pvp saga plz make an effort! It shouldnt be hard at all. And plz make a real pvp quest. Not something thats over in 3 hours. And can be done while afk’ing minis. Gif real rewards. Like a saga runestone! Or an end quest reward like a pvp T4 wpn!!


We should be more constructive with the criticism of this post everybody. All I’m reading is a lot of whining with a few good points thrown in. I’ll try to condense the ire of the posters into a more “presentable manner.”

Alt farmers and botters
It is very clear that there are people who are gaming the system by killing alts and using bots to raise their kdr and overall kills number. We would like a response from Funcom on how they will police this going forward or at the very least an acknowledgement that there are cheaters participating in the leaderboards.

The Top Killer Reward
The problem that I’m seeing here is that there is class bias with the overall “top killer” award. Of course a necro or a demo will get more kills than lets say a conq or a tos. It doesn’t feel like a fair race when the top 10 of the current overall leaderboard are comprised 80% of caster classes. Botters or not, the “top killer” race is stacked against the majority of players for the simple virtue that they picked the wrong class.

Individual Class Rewards
There are some really good players out there who don’t play the game enough to earn that top 4 spot despite them being well within their capabilities of doing so. This reward should be more inclusive to the playerbase. How? Easy, have an in class dueling tournament. Anyone who has placed in their respective class leaderboard can sign up to compete with the caveat that the top 4 are already in the final match ups so they don’t have to. Everyone else is duking it out for the other four spots. In the end we will have an 8 player class tournament. Then we will see who the true champion is.

Unsubstantial Saga Rewards
Throughout AOCs history the pve community have received substantial content and rewards. Despite this game having some of the best pvp ever conceived for an mmo game the pvp community have always been shafted and given less attention. Is is totally undeserved? No, pvpers whine harder than anyone else on this forum. Is it totally unjustified? No, there are reasons why, but that’s complicated and I won’t get into that.

That being said the saga looked like it was poised to be a message of good will to the content starved pvp community. Funcom was responsive and talkative, players were having a great time, and there was some awesome open world pvp that has not been seen since the early years of the game.

So what happened?

Level 80 came and the gap started to show in a very clear way. Does pvp t3 gear matter as much as everyone says it does? No, it helps sure, but individual skill is more important. What about AAs? Yes, the AA gap became wide and when players were once able to compete with everyone, now they are left behind.

Lets bridge that gap again. Just like there was catch up xp why not catch up pvp xp with an aa xp buff? Mix this in with some new open world content and boom! Everyone will love you again. Give people a free set of pvp t3 gear or a weapon. Gods at least give them a weapon! Maybe a special ring, but for pvp only? Sky’s the limit. There’s a lot that can be said here and I can go on and on, but I want to hear from the players.

What can we as a community agree on to make sure everyone is playing on an even playing field?

I got suggestions too, but this post is long enough as is so I’ll do that another day…

Yes there is a lot of cricisism in the posts… we r a bit dissapointed… can someone tell me where the money earned on theese sagas went? Cuz for real, they have had an enormous income from theese shop cases.

What do we get? 1 x cloak with xp buff and 1 x necklase with xp buff. Both with otherwise old stats.

It was mentioned by mussagna in global crom b4 the pvpsaga start that there would be something for the pvp vets. I dont see what that is?

The whole thing feels very cheap indeed!

Why is this pvp Saga thing prolonged anyway? It s dead already. You have the same old cheaters topping all leaderboards, Funcom got the cash, nothing much can happen anymore. Fun? Really??

Any chance of a tournament-mode minigame tournament instead of dueling-tournament only? Many classes excel in group pvp vs. dueling, and certain classes can be built to be kings of dueling situations… in other words, dueling really isn’t balanced at all. Group pvp allows all classes to be viable, as long as care is placed in team compositions.

It would also be a GREAT opportunity for the “tournament mode” of minigames to actually see use.

Please bring up this idea with the rest of the team. I think people would really love to see pre-registered teams of 6 duke it out in a tournament setting with a bracket and whatnot.

I agree, it would be nice for tournament mode to be used for something other than certain guilds botting kills.

Funcom should learn from other companies how to make smart leaderboards. Current one just represents quantity, not quality.

At Least we all pretty much get cloak as long we get Goal Kills. YEA! Obviously a Cheater going win it since no active Officer patrol Hyboria. I take like this they might thought they were Pro’s but they know they stink like sewer water anyways.

At least the previous saga actually acknowledged guilds and full raid groups for completing. But on this one lets throw out any group efforts/teamwork and focus on who can cheese the most kills.

Hey all, thanks for the feedback. I understand the current setup favors solo play, I’d love to make a competition focusing on groups in the future.

That said, I can’t promise that with the current tech/resources we have with our Leaderboards, but I’d love to hear your ideas on how we can make for fair competition for groups!

The rewards from Saga of Blood, are pretty crappy compared with the Saga of Zath ones, even the TOP REWARDS .

The leaderboard top ten rewards, are so unfair that will not motivate players to continue, and we’re seeing that now, with the decrease of population.

I think that objectives should have been set so that all the players had the possibility to get the rewards, just like in Saga of Zath. Not giving the rewards to the top 10, so you are rewarding only top killer classes (necro, demo), most dedicated players with most time to play, alt-farmers, third party aids. You’re ignoring the rest of the player base, just because the others rewards you give to us, are irrelevant, well maybe without counting the spider mount.

We’ve to recognize and I congratulate you for it, is that you have known how to monetize this server much better than the previous saga
