This is crazy, why would you remove mares to begin with? That is such a stupid idea, many may not care but many do. A all male species of horses… really… Why is this still an issue after so long.
Imma weigh in, and go with “They didn’t know what parts to augment on a mare with the potion of endowment.”

They did it to “fix” a bug, if I recall correctly. Like putting plywood over a broken window. It’s “fixed”, but not really.
Agree, this makes no sense at all. Why has this not been fixed? Why do so many issues just go on and on and on…
So frustrated with Funcom and how they handle issues. I really used to enjoy this game but now every day seems I have to check latest issue or be reminded what still has not been fixed. I have to stop before I say something I regret.
Does the change maybe have to do with the Tainted Fodder white/black horses?
Nah. Although I vaguely remember it somehow being linked to the wight horse. The mesh was getting messed up so it looked like it had a dong that was five miles long. Hilarious, but obviously a bug.
That could just be coincidence though, because I think it was around that time that all the mares grew testicles.
Incidentally, horses are still technically spawning as mares and stallions. Give your horse a potion of endowment. If nothing happens, it’s a mare. 
Like @Xevyr said some time ago, we have neither male neither female horses. Their genites are constantly changing.
But i do agree to finally have a stability in this issue. It’s not correct to name princess a horse and after 5 min my princess has balls 
, at least it’s not correct for my taste to avoid any misunderstanding here.

Oh no no, what I said is that the females have strap-ons. Their gender in the game memory is still female, they just all get spawned a willy regardless of their gender…
You know… it’s like Oprah basically

Right now on PlayStation you look from behind and nothing is “hanging” but after 5 minutes something double is hanging , it’s like your horse gained balls or lost in occasions just because you ride it 
. It’s funny, but it needs fixing.

I renamed my mare with a stallion name after this. I’d rather not let my horse give its own pronouns.
