Bring back the dark

i have come to kinda like that its doesn’t get as dark on siptah as it does on exiles lands… but i would like to see it get a lil darker so torches would be of use and we can see our builds in the dark like we could on exiles lands… without it getting to dark the game seems kinda lacky on seeing a pretty base at night. yeah i agree exiles map at times was a bit to dark… but this is kinda a lil over bored at night you still see like the sun is out… so why have the moon and sun go across the sky if there isn’t no day or night change…

I tottaly miss the darkness of the base map in Siptah. It was so cozy to see your base with torches while everywhere was dark. I also miss weather change, rain etc…

Thanks , thats really interesting

that would help if i played on private server … but i only play on officials always have… private server or offline server just not my thing…

No, I much prefer the night lighting on Isle of Siptah versus the Exiled Lands. The moon and stars do matter.

what night light?

Perhaps it would be possible to create moon cycles, so some nights are fairly bright, like they are now, and other nights are pitch black.

that would be nice to see on siptah

Id support a middle ground. As in, it varies greatly. Not every night has to be pitch black, but they could throw in some “overcast” during the day, and make that night particularly black. Make it happen every few day/night cycles. So it’s not an aggravating darkness, rather a spooky one that happens from time to time.

I much prefer night on Siptah to night in Exiled Lands. Not being able to see does not make for a good gaming experience.

That’s what the torches are for.

It’s not that we want people forever condemned to run around in a black void all the time. It’s just that lighting is a game mechanic. You enter a cave or go out at night or any other similar situation, you expect the lighting to be poor enough that it’s advantageous for you to do something about it. Light a torch, bring a flashlight, put on night vision goggles, activate your cat eyes, whatever happens to be applicable to that game world.

The problem is developers have this nasty tendency to put these things into the game, but then undermine it all by turning the ambient lighting up so high in these situations that you don’t gain anything from using them. Or worse, they put you at a disadvantage. Torches that don’t really provide any additional lighting, but take up one of your equipment slots. Night vision mechanics that end up doing nothing but wash out all the color and make the already too bright lighting blinding. Lighting focused furniture items that don’t really do much of anything related to lighting because it’s always daytime.

I am in this camp, I also enjoy the nights in IoS over those in EL. The darkness doesn’t add anything but strain on my eyes.

You mean only in PvE because PvPers have nights removed. Many private PvP servers have very short nights because people edit the .inis or use filters to remove them anyway.

It is not about exploiting but rather what is enjoyable experience and what not. What might be considered enjoyable experience for one group doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone.

as far as I am aware neither of those are Conan Exiles, both of these games are FPS

So you are basically calling me a filthy visual exploiter because I disagree that nights don’t add anything to the table and you don’t give a rat’s ■■■ about my opinion? You don’t need to answer

Either way, my point here is that there are people who enjoy the nights on IoS as they are and I don’t personally want them to change anything in this regards.

Dude, there are 3 people in here who are telling you that the nights are ok as they are, you are going off-topic in attacking how other group that you don’t belong to plays the game. My point is, you are welcome to share your opinion but please don’t try to force it on everyone.

it just that we got all that stuff for night time and its a waste on siptah if its no use … so if we not gonna get darker then they should take it away and give siptah something else in its place, cause that’s a lot of slots taking up for nothing on siptah.

and for some ppl the night time was very usefull in PvP if you knew how to use it to your advantage… but i know not every one agree’s but there are a good few that does also… but as it stands there is no night time at all on siptah… even when it suppose to be . in a dungen also the sun still shines… so what’s the point of torches in siptah? even the ones in the vaults they aint adding anymore light …

Personally, I’d love to see Siptah “night” be as light as the night in Exiled Lands desert. It’s just my own preference, and the reasons for it are:

  • I dislike being completely blind, like in the Exiled Lands north.
  • I like decorating my bases with light sources, especially colored radium torches, and the light sources are not only unnecessary on Siptah, but they don’t stand out at all. The lighting makes them look muted.

Lighting on IoS is bonkers. Sun rises in the south and sets in the east. Midnight looks like high noon during the maelstrom. Most of the day is gloomy and overcast with the storm. Almost perpetual gloom interspersed with occasional clear times for a sunrise or sunset.

That is sad, to me. There are sone really great looking areas on the isle hidden by the near constant gloom.

I’ve not been back in the test-live, but I recall a small area of the isle on the east side that was almost always dark, even during mid day with no storm. with the storm or at night, even a torch was nearly useless. No reason I could see, but it was near a rot branch boss. guess I need to go take another look.
