This is a real pain in the neck
Two kids (judging by their behavior) built it right next to me in the middle of the path just to spite me. When I asked them if they could at least leave a clear path (both in English and via a French translator), they didn’t respond, and the next day they even added a map room (about 30 meters from mine), complete with disco decorations.
Well, the server is for everyone, and you don’t get to choose your neighbors… and luckily, they quickly got bored and stopped playing… but…
About a day before it was about to decay, Funcom saved them—they turned off the decay timer.
So I’m waiting and waiting; yesterday it showed 73 hours.
Today I came by with a hammer to check, and it jumped to exactly 240 hours (I looked, and none of them were online), so it must have been me who reset it.
Thanks, Funcom, for another 10 days where I won’t be able to properly get into my own base
Honestly, I’m no longer surprised by people who break the rules and create a “security zone” around their base using torches
I have been saying exactly this , for years on the forum , the new players arrive , see a server filled with builds that has protective walls around their builds , report thinking that those people abuse the system , then settle on the server get comfortable and bam , purge abuse / wall you in toxic griefer arrives on the server , new now old player slowly start to understand why the guy he reported back when he started had deffensive walls around his base … sad part is both players were right to do what they did from their own perspective but with missing the right to contest a temp ban , then the player that got reported for said defensive walls can’t even explain why they were up in the first place
So I can forget about getting any “sweet” compensation for the items from their base—for that, I’d have to know exactly when it’s going to collapse, and I’m not going to risk resetting it again.
Honestly, at first their behavior even made me want to go somewhere else, and for a while I looked for a different location—especially after the update, thinking I’d go to Siptah, where there are a lot of interesting places.
But…
I just really like this place,
and this base—personally, I consider it my best creation.
What you’re describing, I’ve experienced many times myself. I’m the kind of person who walks around the entire server with a hammer, and this bug has happened repeatedly.
I secure my area not with torches, but with religious shrines; I build open structures without roofs around me at certain intervals, and I also add a “map room.” Additionally, I have enough “teleport stones” to surround me and spread out enough to ensure security. I even upgrade the religious shrines to level 3 so that if an admin comes along, they’ll see they’re not just empty structures. For years, this method has protected me from both ban and aggressive people.
