I don’t know if this is the right place to post or ask but i have a problem.
This is a problem i have come across countless times since launch, and it is building related.
So i am building a rather big structure. And I’m in the process of adding the roof and for some fckn reason a few slanted roof pieces won’t snap or let me preview. This is only on the right side of the building. You could split the building dead center and the left and right side would be mirrored. I’ve checked with the repair hammer at every damn piece and every one that need to have a certain value has that certain value, but somehow the left side is just more cooperative. I don’t know what to do anymore at the moment. Spent the last 2 hours checking every little piece and they’re exactly where they should be.
So yeah, it’s something i have come across multiple time, and i know the easy solution would be to just put pillars down, but I don’t want to put anymore down, and I shouldn’t either. Any help is appreciated.
I just tore the roof section down and started again, did the exact same thing, only difference is now it works. Doesn’t make sense. One would think that after close to 3000 hours in this game no bug should come as a surprise, but these building bugs still gets me everytime.
Sometimes instead of removing the whole structure simply removing pieces near the area that wont snap then seeing if it snaps and adding back the removed pieces afterwards helps. Also another trick that sometimes works for me is use a different structure type and see if the nit allows you to snap that there, if so then simply snap them in and the replace it with the desired structure type, e.g. using tiled roof that wont snap, try thatch roof and if it allows you to snap that then just upgrade the thatch to tiled after placing it.
I have had this happen to me with foundations where it just won’t let you place them in certain areas but it will let me use sandstone foundations there, So i then just place the sandstone in those problem areas and then just place the foundation type I wanted to use in place of the sandstone afterwards
Yeah i tried all of the tricks, spent about 2-3 hours messing around trying to get it to work, but i ended up just tearing the troublesome section down and building it up again.
This is usually what I have to do as well when you get that one section that just wont work.
I assume its something do to with math going into, and repair says its all good… but for what ever reason… you got one or two pieces being a jerk.
And you end up having to take down several parts and restarting a section.
I’ve had it do this on small huts as well, and its like… really?!
I do build a lot yes, can’t say i am terribly creative, but i do like building small cities and large multi-purpose bases. I play on a pvp oriented server so it’s kinda bad when these bugs preventing me from completing bases occur.
Do you only build?
