Buildings blocking a huge area of NPC spawns

Bug Description:

When building, some NPC spawns are blocked without any sense right after a server restart. Building and cleaning the area doesn’t reproduce the bug; the NPCs will respawn after being killed.

At first, I got this bug in a modded private server, but I wiped everything and, with default settings, built a 7x7 foundation to see if it was because of the mods, which isn’t the case.

In this case, after the restart there weren’t any animals in the area, but the first time I got the bug, before the wipe, only the scorpions and snakes were blocked from spawning, but the antelopes and wolves in the area were perfectly fine (even if the wolves were closer to my building than a lot of scorpions).

Here’s a video after reinstalling the server and testing without any mods or changing settings, all default and vanilla:

There you can see before and after the restart, plus an additional land claim check with a battle standard.


Bug Reproduction:

  1. Start a private server, no need to change any configs except for the map option, which is the Isle of Siptah (I didn’t check if this happens in The Exiled Lands)
  2. Join the server
  3. Create a building. In my case, I built in K9
  4. (Optional) Kill the NPCs around the structure and see how they will spawn
  5. Restart the server
  6. Join again and see the bug: some NPCs won’t spawn, maybe others will

If you are reporting that many/all NPCs stop spawning after you build in that/any area, then that is correct - building anything will block NPC spawns to some distance around the built pieces. That has always been the case.

On private servers Admins can modify this setting, allowing NPCs to spawn closer or only further away to any builds.

But if your fault-log is that NPCs stop spawning around a build, then that is not a fault.

Maybe you need to add more details?

As I said, settings are default, and at the end of the video, I checked the radius of my claimed area, which is very small compared to the area in which NPCs didn’t spawn.

It doesn’t make sense that the Giant Scorpions stopped spawning because of that 7x7 building, which is very far away.

Plus, in the web console, I receive a lot of warnings about NPC spawns, but I don’t know how to download and send them.

[EDIT] I think I’ve found the correct log files, the ones that belong to the video (but I assume any other logs would work since it has the same warnings). Here’s an example of what I found:

If the spawns are blocked only after the restart, plus within a very large area, then it’s not like that.
