instead of a full wall, half a wall I’m wanting to build a house that doesn’t look too tall
More base game roof pitches would be nice as well as lower braces. I would like to see options for window connections (combining into one big one) , of course for pvp players some of these options would need glass or blocking devices to prevent theft.
for a big window I recommend the stormglass frame as its just a giant window xD
Just think if you could combine more than one frame or window seamlessly to make the window as big as you like.
New building piece shapes would be cool and all, but consider the geometry involved in being able to snap the various building pieces together. Anything with measurements that don’t match the current pieces could not snap with other pieces. So the new pieces would either have a very limited use, or we would need a huge amount of extra building pieces to bridge the gap between the current standard-sized pieces and the new non-standard pieces.
Agreed
This. Imagine having a half wall that allows you to attach pieces to its top. Now imagine building that half wall, then attaching a sloped roof on top of it, then attaching ceilings in a straight line from that sloped roof until you run out of stability to place more ceilings. Let’s say you want to place more ceilings. What do you do?
Normally, you could prop a ceiling with a pillar and keep building. Oh, but this wall is half the height of a pillar, which means you can’t do that. Now you either have to add another half wall to prop that ceiling so you can keep building, or you have to ask Funcom to also add a half-height pillar.
Or, pillar down through the ground mesh, walls and foundations already do the same
Ive seen plenty of mods make use of a half wall just fine
Or plan one’s builds just a touch more judiciously.
Was it Northern Timber or Emberlight that had these and shallow/deep angle roofs?
They work fine, you either place pillars at even steps in growth, or draft up plans before large builds. Or, alternatively, find a way to offset foundation pieces to create a reasonable height ceiling. This one has read reports that 3.0 makes offset of this nature more challenging. Of so, more’s the pity.
Regardless, it’s an option that many could enjoy and has been mentioned several times through history. This one has as much support for it now as always.
Does the decorational struts do anything? It would be nice to use them to increase structure integrity
No, they’re decoration.
They did, in days gone by, and it got very wacky.
They did once, but no longer.
Can we get a half wall? Turns into
- Half Wall
- Half Pillar
- Half Ceiling (horizontally)
- Half Stair
- Half Ramp
- Half Corner Stair
- Half Corner Ramp
- Half Sloped Walls
- Half Inverted Sloped Walls
- Half Fence (horizontally)
- Half Door Frame
- Half Doors
- Half Window Wall
- An entire new roofing set to accommodate the half heights
Its the same thing as the 90 degree stuff. People think they aren’t asking for much, but it quickly snowballs. I know, because I work on this stuff for my mods, and I get those requests. It never ends, half wall or 90 degree stuff isn’t as simple of request people think it is.
I mean all you really need is half wall, half pillar thats all thats generally needed, don’t really see why you’d need a half…
Doorframe
Door
window wall (as it wouldnt be a window wall)
Half ceiling
Half fence
An entire new roofing set (as the current one will accomodate it already)
Half wall/stairs/pillars is generally all that is needed
Sure. The thing is, modders do things they want to have in the game. It’s their choice. A company needs to consider where to allocate their dev resources. People making half walls are people who are not making stuff that might be more popular, and thus more profitable. The company needs to consider profit.
But who knows, maybe we’ll see half walls in the Black Lotus Bazaar.
I wouldnt mind buying it, the only problem is i can hear they cries of p2w, coming through one way or another
While it would be nice to have half walls, to be honest, half wall only with the vanilla sets is probably not what many people would want anyway. They probably prefer them with the DLC sets.
As noted by Multigun, a half-wall by itself will probably have require other pieces be asked for to make it work.
Who knows, they may make them eventually for the Bazaar, but I would not keep my hopes up on this concept.
How about a half wall just to be used inside a structure as a divider, without needing to use the fence? Apologies if there is something there already, but I haven’t really seen it in my gameplay.
It’s just annoying if you have split-level buildings and a fence with it’s ugly bits stuck out. That works on the exterior well enough, but an interior one with smooth sides would be nice.
There’s a half-height lattice wall from the Riders of Hyboria DLC.
