Its really frustrating, im taking my time, killing one , two three Opponents, risking life and limn in tactical combat to survive, and 30 seconds later the corpse despawns, i cant get my reward, my precious resources…
Can we get de spawn corpses in up to 24 Real Time Hours.
Or at least 30 Real Time Minutes… thats how long i need really,
Im in Single-Player, this is not going to Lag up the server one bit…
Thanks really appreciate it and your concerns, am really enjoying your game, just needs a little extra push in the right direction,
There are some mods out there, that add quality of life, they help,
24 hour despawn for corpses? Do you have any idea what that would do to online server performance?
And corpse despawn time is definitely not 30 seconds, it’s closer to 10 minutes. If that’s not enough time to loot them you may want to up your caffeine intake.
Hey, I just realized that my response may have been a little harsh and that your post is totally valid. I’m just more than a little jaded because Funcom refuses to fix core aspects of the game.
Just keep in mind that for decades in gaming, persistent corpses, decals, clutter, etc do have a tangible cost in both server and client-side performance especially when you consider that with a 24-hour despawn timer active servers would be littered with thousands - perhaps tens of thousands (think purges) - of corpses having to be kept track of and rendered.
Maybe myself or other people here can help give you tips on how you can kill NPCs more effectively and have more time to loot them?
What level are you? What is your build (attributes)? What armour and weapons are you using? Are you using a thrall?
Your actual problem here is that you’re playing in single player. The slider which increases the length of respawn works well, and already does what you’re asking.
In single player, your PC is the server. To save on resources, it only renders the part of the map that you are interacting with. So if you kill everything in a camp, then leave render distance (even for 30 seconds), the camp will be completely respawned as soon as the game has to render it again. If however, you have the respawn set really slow, you can kill everything and stand in the camp for ages without them respawning. I’m guessing that you are filling your bags, leaving to return to your base and when you get back to the camp, you find it’s already respawned.
The solution to this is to play on a server. A server keeps the entire map populated, whether you are there or not. If you still wish to play single player, this can easily be done by running a (free) dedicated server on your gaming PC (or better yet, an old laptop), then transferring your single player saved game to that server. You can of course keep it password protected so no one else joins your server. For all intents and purposes, it will still be a single player game.
i regret to inform you, but some corpses de - spawn in 30 seconds…
that is unreasonable… most decay in about 2 minutes or so…
i think there should be server options implemented, i think thats reasonable
put a slider bar on corpse decay that suits your game world !! everyone benefits
This one has had issues where it appeared that the corpse despawned, but I actuality it was just invisible.
Sometimes it could still be looted, altho it could not be seen.
Sometimes leaving and returning, going out of the render distance so that it re renders, helps.
The same trick sometimes works for thralls bonked on the head but that fell thru the mesh.
I regret to inform you, but your problem seems to be elsewhere.
In single player, when you kill something and you leave the place for a time, WITHOUT LOGGING OFF, the loot will be in bags where the corpses were. I often get annoyed they DO NOT vanish, and instead I have to loot them and throw the things elsewhere if I want to build over the place I killed them.
And the slider works just fine.
Also, when you “bonk” a NPC and you leave the “relevance area” ( the technical term of the space in which things will be rendered or considered beyond persistence), when you come back, both the bonked NPC AND its replacement will be there.
So there is some other problem with your setup that has nothing to do with being single player.
