Woot seriously? He got banned from that? Saving an old version of a game has been going on for a long long time. This is getting more and more pathetic if this is true.
I donât know the specifics of the case mentioned, but I would like to recommend everyone to read the Terms of Service you agreed to follow when you bought the game, including Funcomâs rights to limit what we are allowed do with the product.
At least we should know what we agreed upon before we start pointing fingers and throwing insults.
I cant see a problem if he has it available for people who have the main game.
Ofc if someone would pirate it and let it out for people who didnt purchased the game from the start. But câmon, if itâs like I said, there should be no reason to ban someone who just loved an earlier patch of the game and saved it.
Some games have an service in steam where u can play the game from earlier betas or what ever, I would love to have that on CE too, since this game is not the same anymore.
Many people really ought to do this.
Iâm not saying how things should be. All Iâm saying, read the EULA. Itâs pretty short as far as EULAs go. When purchasing the (licence to use the) game, we agree to follow the EULA. Disagreeing with it is no excuse to break it - in fact, the EULA itself says that if you donât agree, donât download, install or access the game.
If a player wants to do something that would be against the user agreement, they should ask for permission, and if denied, accept that rather than going against it. Or accept the consequences of their actions.
Kinda reminds me of my first job, got hired on because a ton of people walked out a week prior. While they walked out, they still frequented the business and kept talking bad about it to employees who stayed for like up a month or so after quitting.
I donât understand why people do that. Whatâs the point? In that example I stayed on for nearly two years till I got a closer job with better pay. So it wasnât that bad.
If you buy a license for some software youâre legally allowed to use any version you got legally you want. No ToS can stop you from updating. They can make older versions incompatible with their online services, but if you want to use it for yourself itâs none of their business.
Also it said he got banned from the forum, not the game, so nothing to do with the ToS. If they donât want people promoting using older versions here, thatâs up to them.
This is, of course, a matter of local jurisdiction on consumer rights. There are some rights you cannot deny with a user agreement or terms of service. However, most consumers arenât willing to test their rights in court.
Around here, unless the EULA includes something totally absurd or unreasonable, such as selling your soul to the company, or promising your firstborn daughter into arranged marriage with the company CEO, the EULA stands. And if they choose to limit your access to a particular version of the game, or deny your right to distribute older versions to people, itâs their call.
Again, Iâm not saying how things shouldâve gone. What I am saying is that as far as my local laws are concerned, and with the (lack of detailed) information on the particular case, Funcom is operating within their rights.
Just to add to the current subject, they can ban you from the officials or forums for any reason (even ones that are immoral, unethical, or politically incorrect) or no reason at all. Which is what happened there.
No one got banned from playing the game because of a version they were doing. Youâve got to violate guidelines given by the retailer service (such as Steam) to do that.
Pretty much any serious company who wants to operate in US and EU will make their ToS compatible with US and EU laws.
May be trueâŠbut i was undestanding when a thrall ran out of arrows onthen ghey defaulted toniron arrows so as not to be useless if you cant refill during a raid.
That is correct. About 16 months ago there was a bug where when they ran out of supplied arrows they wouldnât start using the iron ones. They would produce one iron arrow that would take up an inventory slot but never got used. But I think thatâs long since been fixed? easy enough to test I guess.
Isnât it flint, not iron?
Hmm, that explains his absence. I always wondered where he went. I am really sad to hear he got banned.
Yeah, I think flint is actually rightâŠ
I donât actually know - itâs been too long since Iâve checked that. Prolly in the Wiki somewhereâŠ
The default projectile for archers is flinthead arrows indeed.
Okay, so my suggestion to have each tier at least get a better arrow than the lower tier is still viable. Thanks for the info.
It bothers me that now I canât cover the foundations with the fences.
I used to build like that, with stacked fences. Iâm honestly glad they fixed it to where you canât do it anymore. Granted it was very tough and made defense so much easier but it created so much lag to have so many building pieces crammed into such a small area. I remember walking to bases that had massive fence stacking and it was like my game went into slow motion, so much fps loss.
