Just a wish - It would be awesome if Tencent could get limited rights to put some “live band” NPC groups into the game. Limited player interaction, like with merchants, but pick songs vs pick items for purchase. I would love to see bands like Heilung or Wardruna or The Hu Band perform at my tavern!, or even at a fixed locations within the exiled lands.
Here I was thinking that by “live bands” you meant actual live music, not something pre-recorded. Because it would be fun if players could play actual tunes on the in-game musical instruments.
That said, the only music a true barbarian needs is the ringing of steel on steel, and the cries of the dying. A symphony of bloodshed and carnage.
so we are wishing for this not only to be more like sims but also fortnite ordered on wish?
Keep dreaming @SnowRaker
If you play PC single player / private server, then I do have a music mod with some tavern songpacks.
I think I can safely speak for everyone when I say that e should have live performances from BTS or Cardi B in game, just like Fortnite.
Wait, what was the question?
the band i wish to see , is funcom fixing old bugs, and taking the game seriously.
I’m a Bard on FFXIV and New World and I support this concept. (I use bard loosely for the latter.)
I’m going to be brutally honest, I don’t think the servers could handle that.
And you would be completely and utterly wrong.
So… you are hoping to see a get slapped on at best? Realistically speaking.
fixing the game… i meant they focusing on having an effective patch process, and better QA. not just bandaids. XD
Oh I know what you wanted. I just said that realistically speaking, at most you are getting a bandaid.
Weird that I cannot attach links nor embed a video, yet others can, I must be tech-challenged.
@Xevyr - Are you referring to the “Music Barrel” mod? I haven’t tried that one. I do run about 6 of your mods already
I only remember one game from the past that had something like that.
Gothic 1 from Piranha Bytes with In Extremo. (2001)
The NPCs had been walking around the area for days beforehand, talking about the upcoming concert. And yes, it was great and a unique experience. I will always remember that moment.
LOTRO had playable instruments you could actually load midis to play.
Got too deep in to it.
Be interesting to see if funcom could pull something off that was done 20 years ago.
MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, and it’s a technical standard that allows electronic musical instruments, computers, and other audio devices to communicate with each other.
Not quite the same thing but Funcom did something similar in The Secret World. Lot of real world bands/music randomly playing from radios, in music stores, etc. There was even a contest were players got their own personally created music put into the game. Many of those still abide on YouTube.
A more or less full list can be found here.

I’m dubious you’d ever get anything even semi popular as someone would have to pay royalty fees. Maybe Hee Haw’s All Jug Band.
Only one game … so … Am I that old ?
There are more, but the point is made.
Before the “but these are in game music events of sorts” …
But I myself would not really make a point of wanting them to waste money on doing it because it would be throwing money at the fire.
MMORPGs or Action games have a different drive for different engagement. I would be very disappointed and reconsider my will to support the monetization of a game that would waste money in inserting paid stuff that does not correlate with the game.
MMORPGs often get bands to play FOR THEM for the fame, not the other way around.
