I have been trying get into the “Farming” systems of the Game. It is very NOT rewarding at all. Making Compost is Meh I guess. but the Annoying thing is the Planters do not Produce Seeds. So… To get more Seeds I have to go Farm them. Defeating the whole reason to making a Farm at all.
If the Planters produced a Plant plus like 20 Seeds so all you would have to do is supply Compost. It would be good at Producing Crops and Also a Surplus of Seeds for Oil.
Just a suggestion. but as it is Farming kinda sucks.
You put the plants in the dryer to make seeds. You should be able to produce enough plants via planting to have extras to make more seeds and keep it self sustaining.
I’ll break it down for you. Hope this isn’t a spoiler.
I’m gonna use Grey Lotus as example.
Put 3 blooms(flowers) into a dryer you get 1 seed.
You put 1 seed in the planter with potent fertilizer you get 5 blooms.
So you got 40% profit you can grind up and use and the other 60% is what you started with. I like to keep making more seeds because 40% of 100 is better than 40% of 10.
The fertilizer can be a chore until you get it up and running properly.
I find that at least 2 but up to 4 compost boxes to make the compost works best(putrid meat, grass and bonemeal Easy) *essence of rot and if that’s not an option for you you can climb up and kill some buzzards, they produce putrid meat. So do the dead dogs at stink hole.
Then do the same thing for the fertilizer. 2-4 boxes, blood, compost and raw ash, all easy enough to come by although there’s so much gold on EL now people probably don’t hit the obsidian as much any more but that’s where I get ash. Blood is super easy.
I like to do 4 planters but will occasionally do 8. Why? Because it’s easier to split the material stacks into 2’s, 4’s and then 8’s.
The whole thing is a bit laborious but only at first. Once it’s up and running you don’t even notice because the crafting times are not fast so it’s not like you’re constantly running in a circle switching stuff you just do it at your convenience.
But to answer the question , no. I have never known any of the planters to produce seeds. The seeds produce seeds
I understand dryer. I am just saying why not make it easier?
If in the Planter, 1 Compost, 1 Seed produced 1 Plant and like 20 seeds.
Also Planters could be a source for Oil, and be like self producing.
As it is… It is a lot of work for very little results. I am suggesting for it to be streamlined. I am not using the Planters at all anymore. Just Decoration. They seem very useless and inefficient.
I got another problem producing Bark in this Game. why does 5 Logs make one Bark? that ratio should be reversed. Also making Shaped Wood should have a by product of Bark. Cause your cutting off the Bark from a Log to make a Wood Plank. This game makes no sense if you think about it at all.
Pick + Tree = Bark
Yeah… i hope you knew about this but honestly though just always use a pickaxe, you’ll get everything you need running around with a pickaxe.
I do agree that some of the conversion recipes are not worth doing though. Even turning branches into shaped wood is barely worth dragging a full stsck of branches to the bench for…
The two recipes i do very much like though, are bark+ichor for oil and iron reinforcement + steelfire for steel reinforcement.
Other than that… meh.
They need to find some way to make farming a more viable alternative to just going at everything with a sickle. Grey lotus is the only reason I even bother touching it because it has no natural spawn in the world. I think getting rid of the drying rack step entirely would make it loads more intuitive and rewarding.
I also completely agree with the 5 wood to 1 bark recipe. A chance of the shaped wood recipe creating bark would be super nice to have.
While we’re at it, I wish they’d add raw ash as a craftable resource/byproduct of using wood as a fuel source.
I think Raw Ash is meant to be Volcanic Ash, still i wouldn’t mind being able to, say, grind Obsidian down for tiny bits of gold dust, raw ash and some crystal.
I’d be down with that option too
