I have been trying to install AoC on my Windows 11 new PC for a few days now. I tried via Steam and directly with the Funcom Installer. It always fails to retrieve a file when updating the game, when the patcher runs.
Both via Steam and directly it fails to download a file part of the Updating local files (2/4) process.
In the Patcher.log file, the following file fails with error 28.
If I leave it long enough, not surer how long, it works.
I wonder if I can just skip the patcher. That would avoid waiting for the file 6 of 8 from patcher step 2/4.
yeah you can skip patcher or dwnl totally if you got back up files,
like folder with all of the data for the game, i personally keep it on pendrive and just transfer it whenever its needed,
not sure how could it help with first dwlding it,
but just a tip here - it goes very very slow by official Funcom source and faster with steam - like its literally gap in transfer speed for dwnlding it afirst
It does this check every time I start the game. So every time I have to wait for more than an hour.
I tried with my firewall / virus checker off, no difference.
The Patcher log file shows the file that is slow, it goes down to 0 KBPS and just keeps retring, then I go to the toilets or to eat something, when I come back, it is ready to press start. But it is at least one hour.
I have it install via Steam, this is how I play now, I also tried the direct Funcom Installer and the same exact file does the same thing.
