I got to the last step where I can start the ritual. However, when I get to his prison/plant, the ‘real’ Liu Fei is standing inside the 100k health imp, and I can’t get a dialogue option. That is probably why I start the ritual by trying to burn the black lotus, but no demons spawns to fight. I hear the demon words of the ritual, and the ritual circle is locked. Server resets allow me to try again, but the same thing keeps happening.
From what I’ve seen you can talk to the Liu Fei that walks out of the plant to advance the quest without affecting the perk outcome. What you use for the ritual is all that matters. I’ve never talked to the one off to the side with the imp so unless something has changed it shouldn’t make any difference.
I am able to talk to that one, and he tells me that we have everything, and we just need to start the ritual. I put in the black lotus, activate it, and hear the voice speaking the incantation. The circle is locked, but the incantation just plays on a loop and nothing else happens. If I try and speak to that Liu Fei again, he just repeats what he had said before.
Is there a way to reset the quest so I can start it over? Between the many, many mods my private server admin likes to run, and the fact that I had Freya’s quest going at the same time (a known issue I didn’t know about, apparently), I would like to clear it out and try again.
Can’t say I’ve ever seen this particular issue. Sometimes the spawning demons will run the wrong way and get lost. Then the ritual never ends until you find and kill them but that’s always happened mid fight for me, not right from the start.
Are you doing Freya’s quest, as in not yet finished? That has been known to bug Liu Fei until it’s finished.
There are admin commands to advance the quests but from what searches are turning up they no longer work. You would have to be logged in as admin to do them anyway.
Has anyone else finished Liu Fei on that server? Could be a mod conflict if not.
I’m willing to jump on the server and try Liu Fei’s quest to see what happens if you care to private message a random person on the Internet with the password. If not that’s fine too.
I’m not the server admin. And I don’t think I could invite anyone to play on it. But I was doing the Freya quest already when I started Liu Fei. I didn’t see how that could cause problems until after this happened. Right now, both quests are stuck. Freya is stuck in “Returning Home”
I’m pretty sure I’m the only one that’s even tried either of these quests, so I don’t know. It certainly could be a mod thing, as we run a lot of them. Thrall Wars, Exiles Extreme, Emberlight, Pippa, and some others are the main ones I know off the top of my head.
The only other thing that comes to mind is trying the Liu Fei quest, and only his quest, in single player with the exact same mod set. Though that’s a lot of waiting unless you can figure out how to get the quest commands to work. But then you’ll probably know if it’s the mods or if it’s something else. Aka if it doesn’t work in single player then it’s probably a mod issue. If it does then it’s likely not the mods.
Searching turned up a thread where someone else had the same issue that apparently they never solved. Sadly they didn’t say if they were on a server with mods.
I looked into the console commands that affect the hero’s quests a bit deeper. They worked in single player fwiw but only if I were admin. If you’re not admin you can type them in but nothing happens. This may be why some people thought they weren’t working.
QuestClearAll allowed me to clear and restart Liu Fei’s quest as many times as I wanted. Whether this would actually reset and fix bugged quests I have no way to know.
This may clear any non completed Journey quests and restart them from zero. I didn’t check to see.
I did not try this as it seemed much more complex and prone to goofs but apparently you can clear specific quests by typing in their name such as QuestClear WizardCompanion:Day2Start
Use QuestList to get the names of all active quests.
There’s no way that I saw that an admin can reset other player’s quest. I don’t know but perhaps Pippi has a way to enable doing so.
Other than being admin and resetting your quests… Someone else or you on an alt account could do the quests, assuming it’s not a mod issue, and sell the thralls to you via the thrall sell cages.
On the extreme end is recreating your character to reset the quests though obviously you’d lose everything without someone you trust to hold it for you.
As per another player, do not use the various console commands if you are near Liu Fei or Freya at the time. Supposedly that can bug it even worse.
My friend I too face issues with Lui Fei and Freya quests.
On a private server I started the quests of both heroes by completing Lui Fei first and after starting Freya, her quest got bugged on me on step two when I made the mistake to enter in my base. I thought that step got reset and went to talk to Freya again but when I spoke to her I was getting no notification that she follows me.
On official server 3047, I completed Freya ‘s quest with zero sweat (aka issues) , but when I went to start Lui Fei ‘s quest the bug struck. I couldn’t and still can’t progress his dialog to start the step 1 of his quest and it’s been two years since the day my issue started.
The strange thing is that on my steam deck I managed to get both heroes quests with zero issues and also I did them with out be in/have a clan in my single player playthrough.
Here’s what I currently face with Lui Fei ‘s quest:
In theory those commands should work on a private server but only for someone logged in as admin. I can’t test it to see without being a server admin.
Was trying Pippi and there is an option to edit player quest flags however it didn’t show any quest flags for my character at all even though I knew I had them. No idea what’s going on there.
If this Discord still exists someone there may have some insight into the issue.
Awesome, thanks. It seems to have worked. I don’t see the red spirit Liu Fei hanging around trying to tell me to go do the ritual, and Freya allowed me to start over, its seems. I did QuestClearAllActive and it reported 2 quests cleared.
