Chapter 3 New Combat is terrible

Actually if you check steam charts they remain at about same player count.

I do not mean to come off as being rude, but you just do not understand how higher end pvp works. There are few weapons that allow you to chase & focus the same target in group fights without hitting your teammates. Spear, daggers, bow and maybe shortsword are the few ones. With daggers being overnerfed and spear being deleted from the game (and shortsword still being garbage) the group fights devolved into ppl spamming sprint attacks with greataxe and the bugged katana dash.

The high end pvp is dead by these changes. Unlike what ppl were saying, these changes are not old news. I have hope they will salvage the game even though they keep doubling down upon thesed changes over and over. The private server pvp community is mostly dead atm.

Devolved into sprint attacks 100%

There’s nothing left to give any leeway on preventing runners at all 100%

Biggest high end PVP privates are having issues retaining or increasing population 100%

I have friends that compete in big PVP tournaments and are complaining about how broken combat is.

Completely agree.

Steam, at last public statement of count, constitutes a minority of players.
The majority are on consoles (this information is a couple years stale, and likely has changed by now, if Steam numbers are steady, because they do not seem to be holding very well on the PSN servers this one pokes at, two private servers having simply closed due to lack of participants and a couple of formerly robust publics now with only serial refreshers).

It’s happening to the PvE side too. My home server maybe tops out at 8 people at night. Sometimes more on the weekends. Pre patch it was upwards of 30 regardless of what day it was. :weary:

Conan Exiles
Conan Conan Conan Conan Conan Conan Conan Conan

I hate chapter 3 Age of War. I hate the stamina reconfiguration that drains you completely so mobs just beat you up. I hate the auto turning that forces you to roll twice to dodge attacks. I hate the prevelance of agility weapons and light armor over heavy weapons and armor. I hate that the berserker feats are worthless now that weapon damage has increased so much. I used to play Exiles daily. Now it seems like a chore and I barely play once a week

Conan is dying by inches not miles.
Most of us will have found other games long before the Conan servers shut down.

A question from someone who never tried PvP in Conan Exiles:

Are PvP and PvE balancing separate? If not, that’s very strange.

PVE, PVE-C, and PVP are just game settings, the game is the same for all.

The problem is when funcom changes the battle mechanics, fighting. PVEers complain about it because it effects fighting NPCs and animals, and blames PVP for the change. And vice versa.

Thing is funcom is trying to get fighting the same across all platforms and us gamers know you can’t do that, wont ever work. This latest change seem specifically to make PC players adopt a console fighting mechanic. And it simply does not work.

My opinion? This game is being developed for one specific pudgy toe headed player that uses a game pad. Not us. They are the one playing and making decision on how to change the game to make him happy, not us. My proof? Did anyone want the personal light but him? Did anyone else want this change to battle mechanics? Is anyone aware of just what bug this supposedly fixed?

Personally I think funcom is about to feel the bite of new competitive games. I’m going to Enshrouded as soon as I get it. I know players; well not at this moment, all off in to Palworld. ARK:A is out and a big update coming. Nightingale is coming soon. Dune is funcom so eh, I’ll get it when it’s on sale for $20. Not spending more then that on a funcom game.

We’ll see this summer if anyone at funcom has an epiphany.

Indeed, very strange, because it often hurts one mode or the other. But devs want it like this, maybe so that people go seamlessly from on mode to the other.
Pvp needs a lot of correction in this game, but covering all the fundamental problems I personally see with the game, that mostly stem from its design, would take too long and it would mean some drastic changes completely unlikely to happen at this stage.

:100: % right

Probably even then i won’t touch it.

I think this is the first mixed PvP and PvE game I’ve played where PvP balancing isn’t separate.

Not only does that make it twice as hard to balance, but minimizes potential for fun in at least one of those game modes. Makes sense that either one or the other group of players ends up complaining about every patch.

I always defended separate settings, but they have a different vision for the game, @nimbleshadow . Pvp is in dire need of attention and this is coming from a mostly pve player.

No it wasn’t… I explained this a couple of times thou :stuck_out_tongue: Scroll up… or something

This is what I never understood. Why does it have to be separate? Why can’t both PvE and pvp combat exist in the same combat system? From the arguments throughout the years, PvE folks don’t want to change up their weapon sets they got accustomed to and pvp wants constant reactive balance to fight those that continually hunt the system for meta and exploits.

Here is something we should do. Understand things will change to keep it fresh and that means your favorite play style or combat style is going to change and stop being old cranky men. AND how about playing to just Fing play and not constantly try to leverage a video game for the win against actually playing to have fun. Crazy Fing concept…play games to have fun. And before anyone goes down the road of ‘what is fun’, toxic and narcissistic behavior where you can’t understand playing a game with others means isn’t something any game should embrace and those people need to be excised with extreme prejudice. We are adults. Figure it out.

My favourite games didn’t change in decade(s), (*gameplay mechanic-wise), and I still find them fresh. Go figure ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t think an opinion different than mine is “toxic” unless it insults or attacks someone personally. Nor should anyone be offended by someone else not agreeing with them, that’s totally fine.

Fact is, most successful PvE+PvP games have separate balancing for many reasons, and aside from obvious ones (fun for both in different circumstances) another reason is that you can balance PvE once everyone is satisfied and leave it alone, and then tinker with PvP every 3 months as much as you want based on the feedback without touching PvE. I don’t see what’s toxic about that.

Such as…? In my experience the best balanced games for PVP don’t even have PVE in them. Those that are a little better just balance around PVP and then adjust PVE after. Because if you get PVP balanced, and then all PVE is adjusted around that balance. Both are balanced.

The issue with Conan Exiles PVP is there’s too much PVE in it. Look at the default settings for PVP and PVE-C. There’s 19 hours in the day where you’re expected to farm materials, do dungeons, kill bosses, and just PVE.

And that’s just talking about intent. Since they didn’t even make their own servers have it so that conflict is 24/7. They know you need breathing room to PVE. On servers where PVP is on 24/7, there’s still a ton of PVE you need to do and so many find ways to make that happen, either doing it in groups or logging in when its slower.

Without mods or extensive amounts of admin facilitation, this game is 95% PVE on PVP servers. There’s your balance problem.

They tend to, at least, have campains, pve of a different kind, although I don’t know what games he’s talking about.
