Characters disappeared upon logging on

I added aurum to my account to create a new character, logged in to play for a few hours. I then tried to log back in later and noticed my characters were missing as well as the aurum I had purchased.

Any ideas?

I do remember linking my accounts and it seems like this may have been part of the issue. Is there a way to recover them if they are shifted somewhere else?
