Chat for Consoles

If at all possible, i would like to echo the suggestion of many aged and archived topics and say: please give consoles the chat function PC has.

Quite often i’ve had the thought that it would be nice to be able to have text chat conversations on console. Trying to ask people on the server anything through individual messaging is tedious and often ineffective.

Lately however i’ve been finding myself in the situation on a new server where i’d love to be able to have a conversation in something like global chat in regards to server performance and certain activities or people logging in, to see if issues can be pinpointed and resolved between players.

A chat function would honestly be of great help for players to not only socialize but also more or less govern servers. Better than defaulting to having to play detective and ineffective communications depending on players privacy settings or in a worst case scenario, having to report what might be a reasonable but oblivious person.

Consoles already have the ability to communicate via party chat, discord and messages. Global chat, whilst a novel idea, can get very annoying very quickly. Especially when you get kids playing, heavy breathers or players who listen to crap music in the background. And if it’s typing via Global Chat, such as in WoW, then no, I don’t need more bad Chuck Norris jokes.

That’s not the same since you don’t just jump into an audio party with randoms usually. Also, it’s very difficult on PlayStation as a lot players have their settings for communication turned off. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to send a message to a random about giving them something or asking a question or whatever, only to be greeted with “cannot send message due to settings” popping up.

With this in mind, I’d love a chat box on the screen like PC. Every other multiplayer game has it, but Conan Exiles doesn’t. Part of the dynamics is interacting with others, but we can’t do it very easily.

I realise it’s difficult for PlayStation users, however, this is listed in the Xbox section.

You can turn off Global and mute players on PC

Wouldn’t want it with how derpy people can be, but if it comes with the option to disable it I’m not opposed to other people having it.

I literally turn off everything when I play games so as not to be distracted. Friends online, party invites and message notifications from Xbox? Off. Display controls, name tags, npc health bars etc on Conan? Also off. Mobile phone? Silent mode.

Its crazy how people play in official servers and want to stay anti social.

A chat will help people socialize , make friends , solve problems and help new players if someone dislike it turn it off or just ignore
If you play in official server you agree in playing with others players if you dont like people you can play in single player easy solved.

As someone on the spectrum, yes. :hugs:

I play on official because no one is abusing the admin panel, self included. However that is my personal preference. Much like if they gave us a chat I’d disable it because it is my preference.

It’s a fine idea, but please feel free to look at the chat in the New World Beta, or Diablo, or literally any other game that has cross play. It’s all feet and politics and never what the chat is designed for.

They also said “console,” which includes PlayStation.

15 years of World of Warcraft. Hence why I like no distractions with stuff like Conan.
