I am online and playing every day. When I logged in today and went to my chest room three of the chests had decayed. They are in a building attached to my house and I’m in and out of there all day. I have not opened those particular chests in the last few days but I shouldn’t have to.

Where they on foundations not rugs or shelves because there is a different decay rate .Sorry for the loss of your items Check with a repair hammer before logging out just checked ours 240 hours. @Birder
They are on shelves. I checked every chest in the room after the fact and every one was the same as the walls and floor. I don’t know why these 3 decayed and none of the others.
Lost several chest last year was on our private server so wasn’t a big deal mostly items to be given away on official chests we place on solid foundations. I do like the look of chests on shelves

This is happening for years now. Also happening to chest on all other placeables. Two years ago I lost multiple times stuff because of this.
I am using an alternative method to stack my chests. That’s not the same like shelves but it is stable and don’t decay within another timer as the main base
