It’s getting really frustrating and it’s reminding me why we quit playing together for a while.
The tether distance is too small, and I’ll be teleported to him if he gets too far, which isn’t very far (and we have it at max).
Had a bug where he fell through the world and was stuck there, so my character and follower perpetually was falling through the world. He relogged, and when we loaded back in, his follower was ok, but my leveled follower was completely gone. It had armor on it that took forever to get, and all of the POOF gone.
If he dies, I get teleported to a very hard area (we are low level), and then I get teleported to wherever he is.
This is the reason why we quit playing co-op together the first time. Co-op would be more fun if the tether didn’t exist (or at least covered the playable map), and followers didn’t POOF because he got bugged.
If you’re on PC, try using the dedicated server hardware instead of Co-op. Co-op is always going to have issues with how it is setup. The reason it exists is for those with less capable PCs to be able to play with a friend. But if you have even an average PC in 2024, you can host a local server and the game client and simply have your friend connect to that.
Coop will likely never see improvements because there is nothing to improve upon. Its a simulated limited server. Its very foundational concept is what you have an issue with.
Issues with co-op were why my partner and I swapped to using a dedicated server on his machine and then making the switch to a rented server. We played it almost exclusively so it was worth the shared cost for the two of us each month. Definitely recommend!
