I’m trying to pull together all the current threads on thralls taking fall damage since the update. I’ve managed to find two of the threads, but I know there were others that I’m missing. Fall damage was added back to NPCs in general. I think its because our kick attack (regular one) got buffed. You can literally spartan kick stuff off cliffs now.
I wonder if there is a way for them to divorce this from followers at least while following. I suspect they’ll want to allow them to be susceptible to fall damage so players can kick them over ledges in raids and what not.
Yeah - the kick makes sense as the base cause.
The need to potentially have them take fall damage during raids does add a layer of complication - I hadn’t considered that. But with thrall intellect being what it is, this is likely to turn into a larger scale version of the old lava problem; at least there it was only in the volcano, falls can happen anywhere… Given how tough they found it to solve the lava issue, I suspect they may (at some point) have to bite the bullet and give up on thralls taking fall damage. It’s a nice feature to have, but I suspect in the end thralls being able to follow will have to take priority. Hopefully they can find a way to make both work. Your suggestion of divorcing it when following seems like it might at least stand a better chance of working than the lava did.
For not following… people could build without using Galactic Imperial safety standards.
Or maybe they could add a server option? I mean this really has no business being on PVE servers at all.
Exactly, I would also appreciate this to be removed in following mode, because thralls get stuck all the time in general and then teleport to us, based on our set following distance behind us.
When the spot is in the blank air zone, follower gets unfair fall dmg.
Thralls can take damage from falling even when they don’t technically fall, it seems. I jumped down a cliff, sliding down the wall, and when I got to the bottom, my two thralls appeared as per usual. However, one of them had only half her health, even though she was at full strength before the jump. The other, though, was fine. I’m not exactly sure what triggers this kind of damage.
I also advice anyone not to teleport to Sinkhole via maproom until this is fixed. I Almost lost my lvl 20 Lianeele, she got around 3500 dmg after teleporting to the obelisk.
Maybe it will be useful for someone: in the Better Thralls mod in admin mode there is an option to remove fall damage for followers.
