This is annoying (Thrall fall damage?)

Platform: Steam
Server: Official 1521
Yada yada whatever

So I have a base in the swamp on one of the hills and I have to cross a root bridge to get to it. I went across and my t3 bearer thrall must have fallen off because I turned around and she popped up with most of her health gone. Then she promptly turned around and FREAKING SPRINTED off the edge of the cliff to her death. Fix your thrall pathfinding and I want my freaking thrall back.

She was the only bearer I had because I lost all my thralls awhile back, that was my fault so not blaming Funcom there. You took away the means to quickly level thralls, so I can’t quickly get a replacement. Leveling thralls is too time consuming and a pain in the ass when you have to level a bunch of them for the purge. I’ve had one annoyance after another since this patch dropped between disappearing crom coins and authentication issues and just general glitchy game behavior. I had only recently started getting back into the game again after losing a bunch of crap when the whole Nemedian foundation thing happened. This may well have been the last straw.

Edit: I added the “bug” tag to this since I’m not sure thralls are even supposed to die to fall damage. If they do, they shouldn’t, their pathing is way too erratic to die to fall damage. And players are constantly navigating cliffs and mountains.

I just had a thrall nearly die when I ported to the sink hole ob. He barely had 100 health left after falling into the pit following my port.

Thralls are too stupid to take fall damage. Their pathing is terrible as is… they don’t need to suffer for it.

Since the Chapter 4 update, Thralls receive extreme falling damage.
This is particularly noticeable when porting to the Sinkhole.
Every 2 to 3 times after porting, the Thralls receive 75% fall damage.
I even had one die once. Or when you remove a Ceiling and a Thrall fall,
he get extrem Falldamage.

You just didn’t notice this much before, because the slave could be stopped and he stood. Then he teleported behind you and everything was fine. Now slaves start running to you, and choosing their path often borders on suicide.

I disagree. I’ve seen thralls teleport with you to the sandpit and end up in midair or walk off the edge and fall into the sandpit then port back to you without a scratch. I’ve never had any thrall take fall damage before, much less die from it.

So glad to see someone else is having the same problem.

Since the last update my thralls sometimes teleport back to me having only 1/4 of their HP or less. This never happened before, I was thinking maybe some of the bosses gave them hard time and I did not notice, but it felt strange to me.

Is it possible that this isn’t a bug?

It’s either a bug or a very bad decision, either way it needs fixed.

Thrall almost died at the sinkhole. I’m guessing she fell after porting to the obby. She was just a hair’s breadth away from dying. Please fix this.

This is interesting and intelligent functionality. It will make us think twice before we rush. I actually like this. It will improve my gaming experience. I am happy for this. It is more realistic and it will help me to understand my thralls better, see their desires and communicate more with them.

Yeah, tell that to a thrall who falls into the sinkhole after a teleport. Something that is no fault at all of the player. Sorry but this is in no way a good thing.

If thrall falls, then its your mistake. You cant possibly tell me that you dont talk with your thrall? Its not funcom. Its you.

I tell you what, when a thrall can navigate the terrain as well as the player can then I’ll agree. But even then in no way can the player be held at fault when a thrall spawns midair over the sinkhole. Nor for that matter if it follows you over a cliff instead of teleporting like it’s supposed to do.

Well then you’re welcome to console your dead thrall when you use the maproom to go to the sinkhole and it spawns in midair and falls to it’s death because you want unrealistic expectations out of AI pathfinding in a game like CE. I on the other hand will continue to try to get this changed. So we will just have to agree to disagree.

Nonsence. My thralls are in the safe place.

It’s got nothing to do with that.

Take a map room, thrall falls to their death while using a normal game function. It’s not a user decision.

Standing at base, thrall walks towards me and then suddenly flies off the wall losing half their health.

It’s down to the challenges with their pathing, something players have no control over and should not be at risk of a thrall dying over it.

I just had thrall die too. I assumed that the dragon ran over and killed it cause it had 3k+ of 5.6k health and I was running it naked with the hunter body paint tattoo to kill the bosses. that was after the game threw away 500 fangs on me and now my character has no dye option for clothing
