I’ve been really struggling over the last few weeks with my game and performance. I have just started playing Conan again after a break and since I’ve been back there have been severe issues with my game performance.
After about 20 minutes of gameplay, the game audio will start to get stuttery and shortly after this, the whole game will completely freeze.
The only way I have found to continue playing is stop the game in task manager and start again. I’ve tried many suggestions / fixes I’ve found online but none seem to be working. I just wondered if I’d have any more success making a post here
Things I have tried:
Adding EQ to game config
Reducing game graphics settings
Re-installing game
Moving game to a different drive
Updating graphics drivers
Updating windows
Running as Admin
PC Specs:
Win 11 Pro
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
32GB Memory
RTX 4070
I’m gonna go old school and suggest checking for overheating issues. Anything that stops air circulation such as a dead or dying fan, clutter blocking the air vents, ect. May just need any dust in the cooling fins of the graphics card and CPU blown out with compressed air. May not fix it but worth a shot.
I’ve monitored task manager whilst playing and cpu / gpu usage are both under 30%… Temperatures seem fine too. Frame rate capped at 60. I’ll have a look for dust build-up though thanks!
best thing you can do if you dont have any knollege about a pc is go to a place where they can check you pc, becuse for me it sound like its your graphic card and i had a similar experience for 3 months ago and it was my graphic card their was broken, but see if you can find a place where they can tjek you pc near you and if you do go to a store where they can check it make sure they cheking everything
Are your issues net-new game performance issues? You said “over the last few weeks,” suggesting that perhaps this has become a new issue. Or one that you are only recently encountering.
If that is the case, can you identify when you last played the game without problems? It may be that you’ve installed something, or there is a Windows update or something that is contributing to your problem.
Or… can you tell us about how you play Conan Exiles? Are you playing in Single Player? Co-Op? Or are you connecting to a public or private game server? Which server? Are there a lot of heavy builds in use in your game where you play? Are you making use of the Conan Exiles Tavernkeeper feature?
If you can give us a little more information about your game experience, and your recent game history, perhaps we can help you nail down what is causing your problems.
All good recommendations in this thread, already, from the other community members.
Freezing after set amount of playtime, is usually a sign of a memory leak. The client or something else keeps slowly hogging more and more memory until its all gone and the computer freezes.
Ive not been aware of a memory leak in current Conan client, but its not impossible.
I recommend you check your memory usage while running Conan. If the memory use seems to be slowly increasing over time its probably a leak.
