Conan Exiles PS4 Building Decay/Lost?

Ok, I’m getting annoyed. A friend and I play co-op together and we’ve lost not 1, not 2, but 6 bleeping houses! At first we did it the hard way, played weeks gathering mats, leveling up, blah blah blah and then one day we got an error code and everything was gone. So we did it all again. Same bleeping thing happened after weeks of gathering, leveling, and building and I was pissed so I said screw it and we built the next house is god/admin mode. We spent about a week building a monster of a house and I logged off to save it to the cloud, logged back in, and it was gone. So we thought “ok, maybe it’s because I don’t have the DLC mats and he does so the game is deleting our stuff ” so once again we built it but this time we built it in his world, same ■■■■■■■ thing happened. We tried again only this time we didn’t build together and he was able to save his progress and I could save my progress so long as we didn’t help each other, but the second we log into either one of our games it stops saving the progress, so we thought maybe it’s where we’re building and decided to test it via building 3 small foundations in different locations and once again, the second we log everything we do is gone. I’m at a loss here. We are in god/admin mode, there is no decay, when I use my hammer to check the decay it’s infinite, why the bleep are our buildings disappearing?!?

Hello @Loki2266, welcome to the forums!

Could you please check if this issue occurs with the cloud saves disabled?
Are there any relevant messages in the Event Log?

Do you and your friend have the game and any DLC installed to the same drive, internal or external?

Did you try to re-validate your licenses on your PS4?

We’ll register the issue for the team to try and reproduce, DLC shouldn’t be a factor here though.

This issue has been occurring for some time now, and we’re to the point where we want refunds because the game is unplayable. It happened before we downloaded the DLC’s, it happened afterward we downloaded the DLC’s, we’ve tried creating houses without saving to the cloud in case it was an issue there, we’ve tried creating houses saving to the cloud every hour. We’ve tried playing separately offline in and out of admin mode, and NOTHING we do keeps a structure (house) in our games. We’ve both deleted all saved data and reloaded the game TWICE in case that was the issue, we’ve tried building over water, on land away from any and all enemies, but again nothing is keeping a structure in either of our games and we don’t know why. When we play separately offline we can save the houses up to a certain point, but eventually (usually when we go to bed) the game deletes everything and I mean everything (chests, vault, furniture, structure, captured people, animals, fixtures, bleeping everything). I say the game is unplayable because any and all progress is lost when the structure gets deleted and we are forced to start all over again which is bs. We both paid $60 for the game plus additional money for the DLC’s and we can’t play together (we like to play in the co-op mode) or in offline mode without starting from scratch every day.

We appreciate you sharing additional details, but please do reply to the questions asked in the previous post as well so that we may determine the issue at hand.

Q: Could you please check if this issue occurs with the cloud saves disabled?
A: Issue still occurred(s)

Q: Are there any relevant messages in the Event Log?
A: Issue occurred(s) regardless of events

Q: Do you and your friend have the game and any DLC installed to the same drive, internal or external?
A: If your asking do we share a PS4 then the answer is no. If you’re asking if the game and DLC are on the same PS4 the answer is yes, we both play on the PS4 the game was purchased on/for

Q: Did you try to re-validate your licenses on your PS4?
A: Yup, didn’t help

I agree, it’s not a factor because the issue started before either of us had a DLC. The first time it happened we got an error code and we couldn’t even log into the game so we deleted it and the saved data and started over. Every time after that it’s been random pertaining to when the game deletes everything and we have to start over. We both love the game, but if we can’t save or play together what’s the point?

Thanks! The question regarding the game and DLC installation is to confirm if you both have the game and its DLC installed to the same disk, which seems to be the case.

Do you recall the error code that you’ve got, whether your friend also got the same error, and if there was an option to submit a report to the developers?

If the option was there and you’ve submitted the report, could you give us an estimate of the date and time?

Would it be possible to share a save that has been affected by this issue with us, so we can forward it to the team?

Q: Do you recall the error code that you’ve got, whether your friend also got the same error, and if there was an option to submit a report to the developers?
A: I don’t recall the error code I apologize, but we did receive the same error code and we both submitted a report. After a few weeks without a reply, we just decided to wipe it all (delete the game and saved data) and start over.

Q: If the option was there and you’ve submitted the report, could you give us an estimate of the date and time?
A: It was a while ago, probably 3-4 months after the game was released was when the error code showed up

Q: Would it be possible to share a save that has been affected by this issue with us, so we can forward it to the team?
A: Sure, but I have no idea how to do that

Back at it again, with the phenomenal customer service!

Go to;
PlayStation Menu > Settings and select Application Save Data Management

Select Saved Data in System Storage.

Select Copy to USB Storage Device .

Select Conan Exiles.

Select the Save Data and Select Copy .

Good luck!

How do I give it to you though?

You don’t, I’m just a player like you.

If you scroll back up and find Hugo, click his name, or badge, and select message. You will have the option to upload a file from there.

Hope that helps.

Lol I just saw that. Well ■■■■■■, this sucks I’m not sure what to do I mean the game is unplayable

I guess you can’t say bug ger

Ok let me see if I can help you. If I understand correctly;

  • You are playing single player in online co-op mode.

  • You have your own PS4, and connect to your friend online.

  • No structures or placeables remain after you’ve logged off.

  • This issue has existed for you since last year.

  • You don’t own any DLC. Your friend does.

  • Decay timer is infinite.

  • You experience the same issue when you play alone offline.

If any of this is incorrect, or lacking context. Please let me know.
We can try a few things, but before we do, you will need to back up your save game to USB as I described earlier.
(I’d also advise sending it to Hugo asap.)

Let me know if you need any more info about copying data etc

In the meanwhile, I do recall a few posts possibly on (reddit?) a long time ago with a similar issue. I’ll see if I can dig them up, and add them here.

P.s. I know your game isn’t saving but the file will still be available.

You pretty much summed it up. It doesn’t seem to matter if I’m in his world, he’s in mine, or if we’re both playing alone offline the game won’t save any data. We had this issue before either of us purchased any DLC mod, so I don’t think that’s a contributing factor, and at this point there’s nothing for me to save/backup pertaining to the game because I’m pretty much starting from scratch every time I login. Now I can use the admin perk and just spam stuff into my game, but the second I log out it’s all gone and I’m back to square one.

So following the steps I gave you, are you saying there is no save data in the Conan Exiles file?

If there is, back it up anyway (this could be valuable to help later on), also please inform me of the file size if available.

Can you also give me some details about your console;

  • Model number (located on a sticker at the back of console).

  • HDD type (internal/external), size, and space available.

  • Internet connection (Wired, or Wireless).

Also, could you inform me whether or not you have ever attempted to start a SP game with default settings? Or have you always created custom settings?

I use a disc for the game, and there is saved data, but the data that is saved is just my toon (character). As far as SP games, aren’t most mmo games SP?

I read the SP wrong, I need coffee lol. I don’t do custom settings, this is the only game I’ve customized because I got tired of gathering mats so I went into admin mode, and I wanted to turn the decay off and add partial nudity.

Thank you LordKAA for pitching in!

It’ll be tricky to determine the cause for this issue without the error code and the approximate date for the report submission, so the save files would be the best bet.

If possible, play coop for a while, exit then copy those files and back them up to the PC while naming them “FirstSession”, as an example.
Then, proceed to load coop again, ensure that the issue occurs, exit and copy those files as well, backing them up to the PC as “SecondSession”.

Cross-referencing data from both instances will perhaps shed some light on this matter, hopefully.

Out of curiosity, have both of you tried to uninstall and then reinstall and fully update the game to determine if the issue is still present on a clean game installation?

I’ve already done all this, and yes, both of us have uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times. The game is broken, and from what I’ve read online we aren’t the only ones experiencing decay/building loss issues.

Sorry if I seem short, but this is annoying and no one can offer a solution other than save the data and wipe everything which we’ve both done and nothing has changed.

Not all decay/building loss issues stem from the same cause. If we were dealing with a commonly reported or easy to replicate issue, it wouldn’t be necessary to request additional data.

As mentioned above, the issue has been registered for our team to look into, however, lacking the information requested may prevent us from successfully reproduce the behavior you’re experiencing on our end, which will impair our efforts in tackling it.
