I play on ps4
I will try it that way
Yes I have tried the normal buttons
Sorry, but in that case I am out of ideas.
Im just about out of ideas too Brenda, except for a couple of longshots. Im just going to do a mini steps checklist to see if we can either nail the problem or further isolate it. So forgive me here, I am not trying to sound condescending ok:
- Ensure you have more than the required amount of torches and branches in you items, but not on the wheel
- Walk up to the Artisans bench and press □ to open the inventory/menus
- Now in the left-hand menu (your items) move the cursor over branches and press R2 button on them, and they should then be switched over to the Artisans benchs (right-hand one).
- Now repeat step 3 with any torches
- Move your cursor over to the Artisan benches menu (right-hand one), and scroll down to the pictures of your desired wall/standing torch(es).
- Press either X, □ or Triangle, depending how many you want. X is for a single unit (wall torch). Also note: that on odd occasions □ or Triangle wont actually work (minor bug), so just go with X if neccessary
- It should then display an image of the wall/standing torch on the lower right of the page, with a grey bar indicating that it is ‘crafting’
- [Optional: only if it does work. Skip to step 9 if it does] If the crafting logo in step 7 does not appear, check the wall torch picture you would press X on to start building, and it should show the required components ie- the branches and torch in a ‘sub-picture’. If either of the components is greyed out or visibly darker, then you have an insufficient amount, or the wrong type of component (let us know if this is the case ok)
- Once it has finished its crafting, the newly completed torch will then appear somewhere in the right-hand side menu (Artisans bench) where you first deposited the branches and torches. Simply place your cursor over the top of it and press R2 button, and it will be returned to your inventory (left-hand side)
- Now exit the Artisans bench using Circle button and check for it your inventory. Note that sometimes the game will move it straight to your wheel automatically.
Have a go a following those steps Brenda (hopefully I havent forgotten anything). If it still doesnt work, try your best to tell us which step wouldnt work, or that youre stuck on, and hopefully we can help you isolate and then solve the problem. Good luck!
Thank you for the info. I will definitely try it out. But not at the moment…my unfinished shelter has been raided by savage humans LOL.
I am just curious… Is the regular torch even available on console? I looked everywhere
Should be. I don’t see why it wouldn’t.
FYI, the regular torch is labled “Torch”. It does not say “Regular Torch”. You make it with five branches and five coal.
Thanks. I’ll keep trying
I only see the improvised torch…not the torch…
It is found in the handcrafting menu @Brenda. Simply open your character inventory, then scroll down the list of handcrafted items on your right hand side. It is just titled ‘Torch’. The right hand menu is alphabetised, so scroll down to the T’s and see if you can spot him. It requires Branches and Coal to build.
Again your standing/wall torches will not build using improvised torches. It must be the proper ‘torch’. Hope this helps. See if you can find it, and if you still cant, I will post a pic for you ok.
Thanks for the info but now I have a different question about the ANIMAL PEN. Does the animal pen have to be on foundations like any other building?
Coal can be found in many places, it’s very common around the mid desert, it’s free-standing black rocks that may look a little like stone and/or iron from a distance. It can be harvested with just about any tool, but I believe the Pick is the most efficient.
Now this one I can help you out with quite easily, as coal still remains my preferred source of fuel. Im guessing that you are still primarily playing in the Newbie river area. The place I get my coal from is from near The Summoning Place. The Summoning Place (just in case you have not found it yet) is the Dafari capital, distinguished by its red coloured marker. Its coordinates on the map are G,5 and it is almost directly north of The Sentinels.
There are numerous coal boulders just in front of the hillside running alongside the main entry/archway to The Summoning Place. There is a great picture of what they look like in Mikeys post above. And as he stated, while most tools will work, the pick is the best candidate. Let us know how you get on hey.
