Crash on launch since hotfix 05.09.2019

What is your power supply model and output?

Run 3D mark a bit, stress test your system some. Basically, your system is a little old, (not super old, but you know how it goes in the PC world), and the PSU suggestion has merit. Especially if your PSU is getting up there in age.

It’s “possible” that what Ignasis says is true with regards to possibly your PSU. It could be that CE is asking for more power from your computer then it can handle since it’s aging (I’m a bit on the tired side so having trouble forming my thoughts into words). Not saying that’s a “for sure” cause, just wouldn’t be the first time I’ve personally come across it.

I have a “Silverstone Strider Gold 450 W 80+”, @Ignasi. Thanks for the suggestion, @Multigun. I tried running the 3D Mark demo. The stress test is only in the paid version, so I tried FurMark also. I’m not sure what I am looking for. The second run through of 3D Mark didn’t work, but FurMark ran its benchmark at 1080p at 62 frames average and at 80C.

I have stress tested with FurMark for a little while and have not run into any issues. My GPU does run rather hot under stress, but it seems stable I think? Nothing exploded! I tried running Conan Exiles after disconnecting a bunch of USB devices. No luck. I also ran Prime95. Again, it ran pretty hot but seemed okay. I also just finished doing another clean install of the game. I ran CCleaner before reinstalling to see if that helped. Still getting the same error.

Thanks for the suggestions. Changing my RAM clocks does not help, sadly. Nothing else is overclocked at the moment. I ran OCCT for a long while without any issues.

Other than changing hardware, is there anything else I can do at this point?

Windows 10 resolved the issue for me. Thank you everyone for all of your suggestions and help.

Really? Well that’s great news. Hadn’t even considered that until drachenfeles mentioned it. I’ll have to remember this the next time it’s brought up. Thanks for the update and happy gaming!

Thanks! I guess that’s what I get for using an old an no longer supported OS!
