What is the current state of the art in thrall base guarding? Is it better to flood your area with pets, fighter thralls or archers?
Also, pet damage/defense value: I want to go a theme for my base if I do put some pets out, which is the most effective when fighting in numbers: sand reapers, scorpions, panthers or spiders?
There are some great videos out there right now.
I would aim for greater pets.
The bears and Boars make great chargers. The bears tripple charge is pretty effective when it lands. The boar has a sweep which hits multiple enemies.
Certain Spiders have range which can be useful.
The new scorpion has a great level of crowd control with knockback.
Reaper Queens dish the damage. They are a little derpy when it comes to starting the fight. But they finish well.
Wolves are solid for their leap and Sunder. And a pack of Hyena can cripple most things.
Cats all leap and bleed.
I like the following. For purges.
In order. I like to think of them as lines in layers.
Hyena in the outskirts to slow and cripple oncoming attackers.
Reaper Queens and Reapers next. They are slow. But if the Hyena do their jobs then the enemy should be Crippled. Reapers have a better shot then.
Wolves and Cats to close the gap as the next layer.
Bears and Boars and Scorpions to guard main base. Again they all have something to knock down and keep away from foundations.
I combine this with thralls of course.
If you need an archer, don’t use the archer thrall, use a bearer…
