Dear Funcom, help me help you

Money Lost:
The way you release content means many players come back check out the new stuff for a week or two, and then leave once they’ve burned through it, but the poorly designed Bazaar takes more than a week to rotate through a select few items (longer if you own the items after an update). It’s even more stupid when you realize all the Bazaar content is already on the client, but cant be purchased because it’s not currently listed on the Bazaar.

  • There’s no reason for this. FOMO doesnt work, you cant access the Bazaar from “funcom(dot)com”, and no one is leaving the game installed to check the store when they’re off immersed in other games. This just leads to FUNCOM missing out on sales over and over. Further, if I dont know when the item I want will be on the store again, I’m just going to look for a free mod that is similar to take it’s place. So yet again, FUNCOM Loses.

IS LOSING MONEY THE GOAL? WHAT IS THE POINT OF A TRAVELING MERCHANT WHO ONLY COMES TO YOUR HOUSE ONCE A MONTH WHEN YOU’RE NOT HOME, OR ONLY SHOWS UP WITH SHIT YOU ALREADY OWN?

The FIX:

  • Remove FOMO/Timegates on Bazaar Items
  • Place “Battlepass” content in the Bazaar
  • Make everything purchasable on the Bazaar year round.
  • Categorize the store: Weapons, Armor, Buildings, Pets, etc.
  • Make the Bazaar also accessible from the main menu…
  • ADD a REFUND* option to the Bazaar
  • (Maybe consider firing the person who designed this version of the Bazaar)

** When players come back to check your game out during new content/updates, they will see EVERYTHING within the Bazaar new or missed, and they will be more likely to make a purchase. Even if a player is only around for a few days, or a few weeks, any content you developed for Conan (new or old) will have the same potential to make you money. If someone see’s another player with something they want, they can also go in and buy it. Further, this also allows those on a budget, or those kids wth “birthday money” to make a purchase on their schedule.

  • REFUND OPTION: I dont want my real money back, but I should be able to undo a purchase for a return of my Crom Coins within 24ish hours if I decide to. There’s been several times something has been for sale on the store that doesnt have a function but looks like it should, or doesnt look as good once you actually look at it up close.

Ultimately, there are no downsides to a better designed Bazaar for FUNCOM.

Would you be happy if you had an application on your mobile phone to check the bazzar rotation and be able to buy from it?

No. Time and resources toward an app that no one wants and no one is asking for is pointlessly wasted efforts that could be better spent on the actual game.

An app also wouldnt fix the current design flaws of the Bazaar.

Making all items available all the time would also improve the legality of the “discounts” offered for items.

This one personally would very much like to see a full catalogue.
The rotating portion can be taken up with new/bundled offerings.

However, rebuilding the storefront requires dev time
Time which is currently monopolized (and rightly so) with correcting the rough roll out of the current update.

But yes, this one agrees that a full catalogue, now that it would be quite voluminous, is a reasonable and potentially profitable goal.

Your ideas are good but Funcom only listens to a micro-minority of the “community” and they are PC players. I haven’t seen Funcom do anything awesome for the Bazaar other than simply having it available. As the Bazaar stands, they seem to be minimizing quarterly earnings as much as possible.

Where’s the source on this?

The direct observation and record of the number of people they actually respond to and engage with here and on social media regarding anything versus the number of people that play the game or are members/followers on social media, reddit, and this forum. I’m not making an assumption or giving an opinion. It’s there for anyone to see.

And you know for a fact which platforms those individuals you’ve seen them respond to play on? The only person on the forums I know for sure which platform they play on is myself.

Yes, they post in the PC forum, you can see their screenshots/videos, and they say it. It’s not hard to tell and it’s not a mystery. The busiest section on this forum is the PC section compared to the console sections. It’s right there for anybody to see… more PC than console.

Just want to point out they’ve already been placing battle pass items in the bazaar.
They’ve been slipping them into bundles.
I’ve personally seen the bowl of roses and relic hunter pick thrown into bundles and both were previously battle pass only.
And no they weren’t reskins or slightly different versions as I could clearly see it marked as already owned when I opened up the bundle list.

Frankly - I think making EVERYTHING always available is a hard necessity. Hell - if they want, they could make everything available all the time for a premium, or a more expensive price.

They can still do their rotations. But make the rotations the more reasonable pricing. Or - the sales.

That why they more fully capture the whale revenue of the folks that don’t mind throwing in a thick wad of cash to have exactly what they want. And they still market to those that are a little more careful and selective with their purchasing power.

Your hypothesis is that the Community Manager team compiles a list of forum users and by using screenshots and videos posted by them, they tag them with what platform they use and then use this information to only reply to those who match up on PC?

When I look at the dev-tracker, pretty much 99% of their replies is in General Discussion.

I’ve suggested this a few times. I wouldn’t hold our breathes on this however. There’s a filter happening somewhere between those who see this sort of feedback and those who decide how its setup. This is one of those things that you’d need an outcry on social media enough to get their attention to change. I don’t think our community here is coordinated or large enough to make that happen.

I’m not sure what platform has to do with the Bazaar. PC players buy Bazaar content too so I’m not sure what the correlation is here. Indeed, most of the people I know who’d like to see updates to Bazaar catalogue are PC people who also play private, modded.

The inference seems simple enough to me: until Funcom hears from one of the “influential” players about the Bazaar, they will be deaf. Not that I share this belief, mind you.

If anything consoles have more power when it comes to Bazaar because PC players have mods as an option. I honestly have no idea why Funcom picked this strategy. It would be so much better if we have a full catalog all the time and discounts and bundles are offered in rotations as they are offered now.

Yeah… general discussion from PC players that also post in the PC forum giving PC player insight, gripes, and screenshots. The PC forum has the most posts of them all here.

It has to do with who Funcom listens to as I stated in my first reply. See my first reply again. The people they respond/listen to the most across all platforms for anything across the board are primarily PC players.

My dear fellow exile @darkpower ,this topic has been derailed far enough with this argument.
@Narelle is very correct as always…

Yes consoles have way less options than pc players,so bazaar is the only way to see something different on your game and looking on your competition video @darkpower you seem to spend a lot in bazaar  .

For them feedback pc is more capable,we don’t have the tools in our console to explain issues as pc does.

But i cannot complain that they listen to me less than any other pc player in here.
So grab them chance, stay and give your feedback too . I can guarantee you that they listen, but stay to see your self too .

Exactly my dear friend. I really missed you my Captain :hugs:
