Regarding the situation at hand, when this occurred, would you by any chance have experienced any error or crash before? Did the game quit unexpectedly and then this started occurring or did it randomly start?
Nope, nothing at all. it just defaults back to 1920*1080 as soon as I startup the game.
But looking into it a bit more i’m not certain it’s even changing to 4K resolution at all. Does the game do some dynamic resolutions to keep framerate up or something?
Edit: Just tested to take a screenshot via steam, and it was saved as 1920*1080, so I guess the problem is more that the game don’t change the resolution to 4K at all o.O.
Yeah. just tested with fullscreen instead of windowed fullscreen and then it displayed 4K correctly, so it it’s not changing resolution when going windowed fullscreen.
I have the exact same problem. I start the game, set my resolution to 5120x1440 as is my desktop and native monitor resolution but the next time I start the game the resolution drops down to 3840x1080. No other graphic settings I change revert - only the resolution. I also experience no crashes or unexpected game shutdowns.
I’ve had this problem for years, the only thing I ever found that made it stop was running in Windowed Fullscreen mode instead of regular fullscreen. The game has it saved correctly in the config file and in game (simply entering and exiting the settings without changing anything fixed it).
If they haven’t figured out what causes this by now, they probably never will.
I have the same problem. I thought my graphics card was dying! . I have a 2k monitor. but I put the graphics in 4k. to get better quality. but when I leave the game. and that I come back. its falls back to 2k. is the quality of the images are blurry. I feel like I’m playing on an old black white screen. this problem exists since the beginning of 3.0
yes the quality was set to 2k from windows settings. I forgot to change the quality. thank you for that . but the fps issues are still there. it’s totally unstable.
(even when I’m not moving). I reached up to 100 fps. went down to 70 .
I was inside the volcano to capture this pictures
and when I approach a tall building. I drop up to 24 fps. is it possible to fix this?
I mean the buildings. has a very strong impact on the fact of fps drops
