That seems way too high. I barely get like 5 monsters per storm, and I’m not travelling all the way into the tower just to get a few extra. I’m not sure I can reach this number in a week.

Summons from the Pools will count towards it. Ghouls, Shaggai, Tcho-Tcho and others spawn as a group allowing you to do this a lot quicker.

Only five creatures per storm? When I go into the Maelstrom, I will easily fight 100 creatures at a time. It’s great for leveling up thralls and getting schematic fragments. I usually make my stand near the watchtower at h9. Where do you usually go?

I’d prefer the 100 storm creatures over the 100 Purge Enemies that I got, however both are going to a pain due to the constant disconnects

I have an outpost in H9 and use it to lvl thralls and farm schematics as well, however I usually get around 50, I am feeling cheated

No, not at all made up. Sometimes more if I have some buddies with me.
On an aside, the corrupted wolf boss in Xochtol doesn’t count as a demonic wolf…
However, where do you enter the stormwrack at?
Coming from the east there are many ghouls and slug monsters along with at least two yakith anytime this one opens their inventory.

There are also quite a lot of “Storm creatures” in the Fractured Citadel. But you also need to deal with some irritating First Men if you go there. I think I got a kill count of ~20 when I wandered around there yesterday, trying to find a Blood-Moon beast for another challenge.
Turns out the Blood-Moon beast at the Fractured Citadel, despite being on the picture in the challenge page, does not count as a Blood-Moon beast for the challenge.

If you do it with other players, you get more.
Fact.
Because, the longer you are in the storm, the more frequent the spawns, until they are spawning almost constantly.

100 purge enemies went pretty quick. Did a few level 2 purges

Tested last night. I had 40 slain Storm monsters bagged before the Maelstrom started. I was able to hit 100 towards the end, and probably 20 extra kills after the challenge had completed.
So, 100 kills during a single Maelstrom may be stretching it, but the carnage in the last couple of minutes is intense enough to amount to several dozen, at least.
Were you alone?
I was herding two thralls, Waros the Breaker (a decidedly mediocre Lemurian fighter) and a Black Dragon archer (T4 surge thrall). They went from level 14 to 16 during the Maelstrom.
