Disable walking on FENCES (pictures)

I wish we were unable to walk on fences like shown on pictures.
Why? It makes towers / castles on hills less defensive, especially when we have gate - you can climb on gate, jump on fence and you just ignored few floors of anticlimb.

Agreed 100% Some fences even have spikes on top of them and you can do this. You even look at other spikes sideways and you take damage and if climbing would fall.

ehh, if you build correctly people can’t get on them. I look at it as a cost for building huge. More chances for holes in your build. Even if they climb a gate, then walk perimeter, if you have high enough walls and no gaps, you are still “safe” from legit break ins (no exploits).

So walking on spikes and not being knocked off makes sense? No part of an anti-climb device should permit climbing on it…

The problem i have with this is that you can climb on gate, jump on fence and it already negates whole 2 levels of anticlimb and IF it’s not very high it will be more wise to just break 1-2 fences and enter from top - it becomes choke point instead of gate like it should be - making it even higher is an option but like you said not cost efficient which again makes almost only cave / meta spots viable.

If You happen to know how to prevent that from happening (gate, jumping on fence), share some knowledge.

Since gates are 4 foundations tall you can only have a functional anti-climb ring at 3, 4 or 5 foundations height levels (assuming your gate is flush to the outside wall). The cost of a stronger door is less levels of anti-climb.

Anti-climb should be treated as rings. Theses rings must encompass the entire perimeter of a level, you can move sections up or down one level and still have a complete ring. The highest ring you cannot jump to is the lowest ring of proper anti-climb.

In regards to gate building I have seen designs that indent the gate one foundation and fill in levels with ceiling. This should allow you to complete the anti-climb rings if you want some lower than the top of the gate door, but it clutters up the entryway.

On pvp there are things you do not do. Gates should only be used up until last wall. At that point another layer using traditional door (or like some none and use break and replace walls to hide the true entrance of building). PvP is protection first , aesthetics second. it sucks, but of playing in pvp that is thevtrade off.

And remember, on officials until they put in DbD, all you are doing is creating more time for offline raiding. It won’t stop that, just prolong and hope they run out of time.

The truest of true words. Forget anti-climb, LAYERS is the only defense lol.

Sure but if someone reaches top of your base, can easily bomb down no matter how many layers.

Ahh, I guess first gate should be just single door.

Got to layer those roofs too! You are right though, this is usually the best places to look for infiltration. That part of why lollipop, caves and hanging bases are so popular.

layers on top. use roof caps to fill space between cielongs. and walls to keep support balanced above 60% at minimum. My clan once had a base with 10 fence stacks, and 6 roof layers…that is 900,000 HP both ways. So at least they had to burn thru a few extra bbombs. then also body vault some where hidden or place hidden chest in areas they may not bomb on walls. Empty base is the only way to at least troll them. They will have to get lucky or level the whole thing to get 1/2 resources they could have farmed in that time.

yep. or a wall, and you just break and replace. This way, unless they see you, they have to guess where the gates are.

Another neat trick. Get 4 or 5 level III or named bearers. Build big enough for map room (exiles only), or have a way out. Farm and stash at a spot during non raid. Before raid, blood port, grab bearer, take and fill, have un follow. repeat until yo transported everything. This way no doors!!!

I don’t know. I think I’d be on the fence about this change. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Even layerd from top is way, way easier to just blow up from up to ground, just put bombs and keep bombing until it’s open, also it’s way harder to defend.

Try building your layer cake with shifting elevations and interdependencies with rock formations. It can be frustratingly deceptive for raiders. Doors on fake layercake is a fun use of your extra mats. I’m with cane, openings should be a feint.

Remember that it is easy to get set t4 priest in set city, then craft a god

Yeah, offlining>than any build.

Also use triangles for main interior

No foundations.
All pillars walls and wedges. build about 4 layers high before starting to make your rooms. The pillar system shifts stability and makes them have to blow upwards one small area. foundations stacked are worthless, as the bottom supports all straight up.

And as Barnes said. doors are for fake outs.

I know it is immersive breaking to not build a creative pretty base, but offlining makes the rules.
