I was lucky to find a baby rhino. Brought it home feed it and I got a greater rhino. I was really happy. First disappointment I can’t ride him. I brought him in the wild and I got my second disappointment. He hits like someone who hits another with a feather if he finds its way to hit something.
He is basically useless. I don’t know why bring the Rhino in Conan exiles as a pet that does nothing but look big.
You had to make him a mount in your inventory before you place him on guard if you wanted to be able to ride the rhino. The way you did it, tho it was one way street since you get the greater rhino, you cannot use it as mount. If you lvl up the greater rhino to 20 you will have a good guard in your pve house. Give to your follower (rhino) at least 20 meters following distance. Start the fight and he will tank it properly, because rhino’s are tanks.
Now to the rhino mount…
You will be disappointed too. I hope they will do something to balance the difference between rhino’s and horses because the way it is rhino mounts are more frustrating than useful, especially to the regain stamina issue, it’s horrible. The only good thing rhino mount has for now, it is… Let me think a bit… Hmmm… Sorry I can’t find something

As you said , greater rhinos cannot be “transformed” into mounts , this is why when you feed the baby rhino use highland berries , to have a 100 % chance of getting a grey rhino , and then you’ll be able to make him into a mount … that you won’t use so much cause indeed it’s not that great of a mount with this low stamina regen
You need to level them up. I have a lvl 20 rhino and it hits pretty hard. If the horse is a car (good to have for travel even at low level), the rhino is an SUV, not exactly useful but fun. I use it for hunting.
@Muelee , If it had the capacity of the SUV maybe it would have a meaning I guess . Going soooo slow, gaining stamina even slooooower but instead of jump hit with nose is not enough for someone to ride a rhino. Imagine that in the time you will do to hit one opponent just once with a rhino the one with horse can kill 5. The way rhino’s are right now is just cosmetic, rhino’s need more, now they are just cool, nothing else.
Ps, you have great patience to lvl it up to 20, if I knew it could die from great fall I would think of it to suicide from a cliff riding it

Well there is probably good reason nations across the world didn’t import rhinos as labor animals or transportation and horses are fairly wide spread.
True, also good that we speak about a dream world, a game, where dragons exist, where you break walls and have no rumble and you can build 100 square meters in 3 hours just hitting rocks and trees with tools that you fixed in seconds .

One of the amazing things about horses is the fact you can gallop on them without throwing up constantly. I would not want to ride on a rhino like in the game, it looks exhausting. But i still love to have it in the game and also want rideable dragons (of course with fire attack).
PS: I am in singleplayer, at level 60 i crank up the thrall and pet leveling.
@Muelee , Exactly, I wouldn’t mind honestly if they let the rhino this way either, like you said it’s cool. At the beginning when they introduced horses, riding them was not so exiting, as followers were more trouble than help. Still I loved the idea that I have a horse in my stable, I still do. And I love that I have a rhino as mount, I named him Fat boy, he is my Harley Davidson 
. A huge mount that makes a lot of noise.
About dragon mounts however… It is not a few days that me and @Ragnaguard had this conversation, we want it badly, even if it’s worst than rhino, it’s a dream.
Pump it over. In the end, on 20th lvl, he will have a bonus of strength under 400%, health over 7000. You can put on the protection of the base, when attacking from a run, it kills npc immediately.
What’s bad: during a maelstorm, a big rhino begins to roar heart-rendingly, and roars until the maelstorm is over. You cannot escape from the roar, it will be heard even when you teleport somewhere. This, of course, is funny, but very annoying.
Use the travel saddle. It’s not as fast to regen as the horse, but it’s a lot faster than the war saddle.
I have always used horses, but I wasn’t able to find any in my most recent Siptah game, so I grabbed a Rhino. In my experience, they are every bit as good as a horse, just require a different strategy from the rider.
When riding a Rhino:
If you want to get to the other side of the map quickly, a horse is going to be your best bet, but for expeditions, the Rhino is a more versatile choice.
@DeMonet , It is fantastic, I can tell that you have spent a lot of time on a rhino saddle, I really admire you for that. I am an average player I guess, I have my moments in this game that I payed extra attention but not on mounts. Before Siptah my horses were cosmetics only, so I cannot say that I have so big experience on mounts, my mounts are never fighting options, I like to do my fights alone, classic on the ground, so I don’t use mounts for this reason.
I still believe that rhino mounts needs more, but I am very happy that players exist to point that they already have a lot, gg m8
I used the rhinos pretty extensively at console Siptah launch. They have a few advantages IMO. For PvE I like them for farming big groups of enemies, you sit high enough that it’s easy to avoid damage. Headgitching annoying things it’s also nice. A STR black rhino hits like a bus, and they stack bleed FAST.
For PVP I don’t think they are completely outclassed by horses. Bow v. Bow comes down to landing shots, being on the rhino means you can charge for big damage with no build investment. Spear v. Spear I think it has the advantage too in resisting dismounts.
The big problem is that lance is horse exclusive and destroys. Against groups where you want to be able to run away horse is always better than rhino.
