BUG FIXES!!!
What keeps the game alive is Tencent making $$$$$.
Agreed.
Them fixing bugs and dealing with the various QoL issues is of greater importance right now than another bug ridden age.
Here is a short list:
I can definitely add more issues, but you get the idea, there is a lot that needs to be taken care of.
So i pose this question: is the bar really that low for people?
A new content update on the way and we so easily and quickly forget the state the game is in?
The problem is…
The items that need fixing have been ignored for far too long and yes, we unfortunately have to keep repeating these things in hopes that one day they will cave in and do what they are supposed to and fix them.
Sure we get a new content update, and no it’s not free, the whales paid for it, but the game over time degrades and starts collapsing under it’s own bug ridden weight until there is nothing left of it.
Many of us have at least some money invested into it and really don’t want to see it go to waste especially when it doesn’t have to, they are just not doing what they are being paid for.
Being paid for does not just include adding a content drop every six months, content drops are sorry to say worthless if the underlying game is falling apart.
I always look forward to a new content patch in every game i play, but let’s be realistic, this game could use a bit of pause on age development in favor of more frequent patches that address the various issues people are having with this game right now, not more content that will more than likely add more bugs and make older bug worse.
That’s a word! Great!
Please spread this quote everywhere.
Whoever is (still and despite) aktive player and gives feedback about bugs. STOP PLAYING!
i mean a person doesnt have to stop playing to voice their feedback about bugs. people have a right to give feedback, even if it never gets heeded by funcom, and just deteriorates into a derailed 1-ups-manship match on a forum thread.
i do think people should stop playing if they honestly hate the game, but most of us dont hate it. we love it, and we voice our opinions on how we would like to see it change. for many of us, what we want is the same experience we fell in love with, but made STABLE. we have the right to ask for that. and others have the right to ask for more map expansions, thrall buffs, a third iteration of the purge, ability to have your thralls build your base for you, whatever they want to see they can ask for. and funcom has the right to ignore all of us and do what they want. it is their game after all, we just play it. it’s easy enough to quit playing if we find that we hate it now. but if we dont hate it and we just want to give feedback about how to make the game we love better, how are our feedback and opinions less valid than anybody else’s?
People have been, in droves
Lowest player count in 6 years.
If you don’t count serial refreshers that number could be half that.
If another game comes along that checks al the same boxes as Conan the game would probably hemorrhage players.
As far as I see it, there is a choice to be made.
You can build a character that “fight”, or a character that “command”. It seems to be the clear objective.
I am always amazed that people talk about using thralls as if it was logical, coherent, or any kind of “right way” the fact that instead of having 4 characters, no matter one being strong, be it your character, or a companion, you have one character that can fight dozens of other characters and win, probably without breaking a sweat.
I would very much like to understand in which way the mindset that something like a WoW dungeon, or a FFXIV duty should instead be something a single character go around slashing through “everyone else”. What is the big “skill” or “virtue” that makes it so much of a point that people come beat their chests claiming that it should be that way as if it was some kind of special mindset that makes someone more righteous than others ?
Maybe a culture that also views that one nation should lead the World into their own idea of a World instead of having multiple nations following their own paths and cooperating ? Maybe a culture that thinks itself above scrutiny ?
That does not make sense at all. It is like those mobile games in which you simply “smash button” and your own character swing once and hit 10 enemies for half their health in any fight ?
Then I am “weak”, because I think it makes more sense to have a group of characters to fight a group characters. If possible, even with a strategic placement that doesnt imply you just all go around swinging and kill everyone else.
“Having thralls to play the game for them” … those kinds of words that people keep repeating but they dont really mean anything. Never went to a fight with a follower and the follower told me “stay back, I will fight them all and you just loot them after”.
And I would pretty much admire if a dev would make such an AI that the AI could actually fight for you and make it so the fight is actually good.
But no, it is just a dumb thing people keep repeating.
i am not anti-thrall. you are all either being willfully disingenuous or just not paying attention to what i am saying.
i am voicing my personal preference, my opinion. i think thralls are just throw-away cannon-fodder, fit to die in my service and then yield their flesh as food for the next set of cannon-fodder. i do want my player to go bare-chested into battle, wantonly slaying droves on my own. that’s my idea of the barbarian archetype this game’s setting invokes. for me. in my opinion. the opinion of Ragnar Random, some dude on the internet. an opinion, a point of view.
i didnt say there was one right way to play the game, that people who run authority builds are “not playing the game right.” i am not calling you or anyone else weak, or saying that your opinions are wrong.
i am merely stating my own opinion, my own preference. what i would like to see is my player character as the hero, the champion, the warrior, and i would like my slaves to be slaves. that’s what i want. that’s my preference. that’s my opinion.
i am not beating my chest and playing the forum warrior.
that’s your job mr. foehammer.
Even if the steam levellers were removed it still wouldn’t be in the top 100 on Steam. Rust had a peak of 133k today, Ark SE was 38k.
That is the biggest load of B.S. to come out of someone’s mouth while attempting to sound serious in quite a while. Because yeah, the thralls falling through the foundation, or even ENTIRE SERVERS AT THE EXACT SAME TIME doing so is because … of what people put on their computers right? Or the issue with Battle Eye kicking people? Or the issue with people having their Crom Coins incorrectly calculated and thus getting banned? All of these issuese are because of … things they put on their computer right? How far up your own arse has your head been lodged to come up with that load of shyte?
Oh and yes, everyone complaining about Cyberpunk, yeah that was just because of what they put on their computers too right? Oh my mistake, how silly of me. That game was so completely and utterly riddled with game breaking bugs it was literally PULLED FROM PLAYSTATION AND XBOX prior to launch and refunds were given out to anyone who pre-ordered it. But yeah, it’s all because of those pesky things you downloaded onto your computer after all!
Yes, I am sure it must be exhausting living in such a delusional state of existence as you do.
Well as has been said, we may all just have to stop playing and stop buying.
And it looks like many of us are indeed doing just that.
When the game completely shuts down or goes into ultra maintenance mode i guess then they will care and so will some of the remaining players that are enjoying their bug whackamole workaround mini-games.
Unfortunately for all groups concerned when it gets bad enough they do close up shop the game is officially over with no apologies and no refunds to your time and or money.
About every major patch something breaks and adds to the piling lists, the game is slowing down on console and is actually approaching the red line of being unplayable because of the lack of attention this team is giving to fixing past bugs and newly introduced bugs.
Optimization gets worse and worse and the load times slower and slower.
Waiting till the game is completely unplayable is a bit late, the time to ask for bug fixes is not after it’s time to scuttle this ship and move on, but while the holes are still mend-able.
If this is what they do, it just means a third age where the new content is meaningless to me and won’t be played with. Didn’t care for sorcery and didn’t bother with the Kurak plotline. The old purge was more fun than the new purge in my opinion. The new bar, burning siege cauldrons, and archer placements are interesting, but can’t be used without the new purge. I don’t have any interest in the new siege locations. Lastly, the Jhebbel Sag hunt wasn’t the last bit interesting.
I’d like Funcom to add more dungeons that flesh out the existing areas on the Exiled Lands map including adding the final mummy boss associated with quest to escape. In my eyes, software as a service is like a rotten fish. It can never be good.
In the meantime, I’ll just keep playing a game about a cybernetic punk approximately 12,100 years after the Hyborian Age.
100% we need old purge back!
Now PVE are more boring, no more risks for main bases, no point to buff your defenses and army (pets and thralls)
Ofc it needs rework and adjustment but still, i dont see why new and old purges CANT coexists now.
People are playing “ark ascend” the new ark “ark se” servers aleast in consoles got closed because it a old version
That’s because you have no idea what people are actually talking about. I wonder if it has anything to do with your penchant for not listening to anything anyone ever says and just writing your little rants as if you were replying to some imaginary person.
There was a time in Conan Exiles when bosses were damage sponges with huge health pools and thralls hit much harder than players. During that time, a lot of people complained that this is not fun to play, because you had to fight bosses over and over again – thanks to Funcom’s love for slot-machine mechanics of RNG-gating loot – and you had to use thralls to do so, because otherwise the fight would drag on while you slowly chip away at the boss’s health. It wasn’t challenging, because boss AI was just as crappy as every other AI in the game, it was simply protracted.
So when people talk about how they want to be heroes instead of letting thralls fight their fights for them, that’s the kind of gameplay they’re talking about.
There, now you actually know. Not that it will change your attitude.
Would you really like to understand? Because it looks like what you really want is yet another excuse to write a condescending, supercilious rant about how everyone who doesn’t think like you is stupid.
However, on the off chance that you mean it, the first step towards your goal of understanding is to stop comparing a sword-and-sorcery survival sandbox with freaking MMOs. The subsequent steps involve reading some Conan books.
You’re right. Bringing politics into this makes no sense at all.
Have you ever bothered asking what people meant? Oh, sorry, I forgot that everyone else but you is stupid.
Yeah, people are dumb for repeating stuff you didn’t bother understanding, but your rants about culture and politics are pure genius.
I played BG3 - no problems
I played Cyberpunk - no problems
I played Starfield after I saw an article about a streamer playing 100 hours and no bug , I found one in 5 minutes. (I guess the 100 hours was just in the main menu)
I also play Conan , since 2021 , still on the same NTB where I update everything
and what do I observe? The ever worsening technical state of the game, bugs unfixed for years and the bugs I experience are usually then reported on the forum by tens to hundreds of players so it’s not my NTB but a problem with the game
it’s a shame , I love the world of Conan and I still enjoy the game despite all this - but I already know I won’t be investing in it again - FC is no longer a trustworthy company for me , but no wonder after Age of Conan
Not my point. My point was the game has lost 50% of it’s players in 3 months, and now has the lowest player count in 6 years.
And funcom is still up on that hill to high and mighty to carry on an actual conversation with us.
Logged in to like Codemasge’s post. I’m trying to stay inactive while waiting on funcom to vomit up some more placations.
I am already the hero of my story, my thralls are hero support. Either to harry {the word I but not the word I want} and distract opponents, or to carry all my stuff.
I’m trying to stay off the forums, I’m just wasting my time and getting worked up for no reason funcom is going to funcom regardless. What I expect of the age of war is more of the same.
At some point the funcom devs forgot they work for us. They want to continue getting pay checks they need to us happy. Because I’ll tell you straight up funcom, Dune isn’t going to save you. It just sounds like a Dune flavored fallen earth, check it’s player count. There are privet Conan servers with as many players.
But right now funcom is all in on a game I feel will break them. Opening a discord so prematurely and having so many funcom reps, so active on it, has hyped the game to the point, no matter how good it is, it will disappoint.
I trust them in I know exactly what to expect of them. Not managing to live up to their own hype is part of that.
End of line.
Oh I know that was your point, just adding to it because there’s a small but vocal part of the community that like to pretend the game is thriving and healthy and anytime ANYTHING like this is posted, normally they deny deny deny.
Take a look at Banana yet? Inflated numbers of course.
This I don’t agree with. Sure ya, if players don’t play, then they can’t make money. I’m not their employer, they’re not my slaves, I don’t own the game and they should have agency over what they create and offer. I agree that player satisfaction is important. Since I can disagree with their direction as a player, being players (as their customers and potential additional revenue streams) it is to their benefit or downfall.
