Do something to the gameplay!

Could you guys at Funcom really think about what you are doing to the game? You are taking all of the interest out of the gameplay with the changes you have done over the past couple of years, mainly with the recent ones though. It’s just run&raid now, basically no survival involved anymore. For example the 4x harvest rate in pvp makes aquiring better tools completely unnecessary. There’s not even the need to upgrade the lower level stuff since they give you tons of resources already. Where’s the point? Let’s take the black blood pick, you can only get it after being able to stand the cold climate (which isn’t that hard these days) and defeating one of the bosses in the caves (which isn’t that hard these days) and what do you gain from it? Basically absolutely nothing, it harvests only a bit more than a star metal pickaxe so it’s not really worth the trouble.

But if the base rates were normal and you’d actually have to play the game to aquire a legendary tool that would give you notably more resources, it would add so much more interest to the gameplay. That being just one example, there are lot more of them which i won’t go to here.

Now you get everything handed out to you, there’s just no point in playing. Even my friend who was a dedicated pvp player for over 5 years stopped and switched to pve just because of the rates, overflow of materials and constantly nerfed defenses in the favor of players with zero patience for rewarding gameplay. Pvp is nonsense like this, with the rates and 1 hour thralls and everything you have done to it recently.

It’s more that you farm the Hollowbone arrows there that allow you to 3 shot people in any armor thanks to their 54% armor penetration :wink:

You forgot to mention the infinite stamina bull-butt-output with poke’n roll spam and implemented aimbots that trivialize PvP combat. :smiley:

There’s probably a number of players who enjoy the settings as they are. You’re never going to find a set that everyone will agree on. But this is why we have thousands of servers to choose from. One of them is bound to have the settings you like.

Though I would point out something. At 1x rates a Blackblood tool would only harvest 2 more resources than a Starmetal one. So 14-15 per harvest with starmetal and 16-17 with blackblood. At 4x these become 56-60 vs 64-68. So even though I agree that 1.0x harvest rates are probably best, this is not a good argument for it.

Personally I believe harvest rates should be no higher than 1.9x but 1.0 as being optimal, and exp rates should be no higher than 0.2 but optimally 0.1 for the best experience. Unfortunately I’m in the minority on this, if you look at the top servers they are all on the opposite end of the spectrum. People want fast. Its what they like. Its what they will play.

But these numerical settings are just numerical preferences. When making a server, you set the settings you want. People come in if they like them, they won’t if they don’t.

i gave up on pvp a long time ago. pvp in all these survival games like CE and rust and ARK is just pointless and dumb since there are so many grieving mechanics and death is not permanent and by the time you reach lvl 60 the whole game feels pointless tbh pvp or pve…
