Just curious what everyone’s thoughts are on this. I already submitted a report thru zendesk therefore will not give any specifics in this post but here goes.
Recently a solo player joined our server. In a matter of just several days they had raided most of the large clans/bases. In my case he recently raided my base (offline) and blew multiple vaults, temples, T3 structures etc (I honestly wonder how many bombs they must have used).
Getting raided is normal and I’m not even angry about it. I’m guessing they probably farmed bombs on a dead server and transferred over with a full arsenal of destruction.
Where I’m scratching my head though is that he hit my main crafting room and in doing so destroyed a vault, chests, and multiple crafting stations (a very large but not too crowded crafting room). All of the fighting thralls that I had in that room though were still alive and the really odd part is that I also armed them all with bows and star metal arrows — none of the thralls in that room (4 of them) had shot any of the arrows that I had in their inventory and equipped in the bows?
That fact that he was able to raid and loot my crafting room while my (bow armed) thralls apparently did nothing (since they had all their arrows still in their inventory), does that sound like some sort of exploit or bug?
Oh one last observation. One of the thralls in the crafting room even had the floor tile it was standing on destroyed so that it fell one level down — that thrall has all it’s arrows as well…
its a chance they did nothing because they were told to, but furthermore AI in conan has always been wonky on thralls sometimes your thralls react historically and kill the enemy with a barrage of arrows and spears, and sometimes they just sit around doing nothing.
Ah okay. Probably not an exploit. Thrall AI is notoriously bad, particularly when the owner isn’t logged in or present. It’s one of the reasons the offline meta exists.
We had to chase a sleeper for a while. He’d pop up and crack into idle players’ places. Then, armed with their weapons, bomb into the next until he got to their temples. Then he’d make avatars. Pretty soon he wiped the whole server except for a few players.
Is it possible this player was a body-vaulted Level 60?
Usually what an invader will do is blow the tar out of the place, pull back… and often the Thrall AI will un-aggro your Troops into a state of non-resistance. Unless of course the raider did the normal thing which is crack in near the end of Raid and have free access once Raid ends. Check the timing of events in your log, and good luck Exile!
@Barnes
True, this behavior from thralls, on of line raids exists years now. To my case a great percentage of my thralls had this “do nothing at all” behavior. This was always the reason I never invested on thralls but on smart build. Some of my clan mates, when they were building, was just confusing us than the raiders , but it was their time to build so I was shutting my mouth off , I was hiding however some chests because I knew that we had no hope .
About the body vault thing I believe that @biggcane55 in the past gave us a lot of information how effective it is, so I believe that in this case we have a situation like that.
These errors are frustrating for people who plays regularly on a server, I wish in the future something to be done about them.
Yeah just odd that the raider blew stuff all over the crafting area (and looted) but the thralls didn’t shoot a single arrow at them (must have been on coffee break…). Oh well…
Sounds like it might have just been crappy thrall AI
Crappy thrall AI is the name of the game. I put out four fighters to killl the King Rhino spawn, but a few checks in, at least one of them was stuck in the undermesh in running mode. I would not be surprised if your thralls were in classic “defend this area” mode and just did not know how to defend it. Best stance is always “stand and defend” for archers.
