Dragonbone Katana

Dragonborn? what do you know of the Dragonborn?..

Eh? DragonBONE?..
…nevermind.

That’s because someone got a bright idea to do that. It was a stupid idea. It’s still starmetal tier. Not even the other blood crystal weapons use blood crystal.

Let’s not forget even the shrine weapons use starmetal. The Tenderizer looks like stone, but is it really?

I’d rather complain about how the game runs, not the flavor text of an item. Besides, I like not having to farm other stuff to make a weapon with zero benefits. If they wanna make it dragon bone tier, sure, but I’m not a fan of crafting something that’s the same as everything else yet requires more materials. This is why I’m a bit peeved about the blood crystal mace… not to mention it’s just a color swapped obsidian mace while every other STARMETAL blood crystal weapon looks cool and unique.

Why waste yourntime and post about other issues on a FEEDBACK thread of something totalky different. Spend your time reinforcing threads about those issues.

So, what you are saying, is someone needs to purchase the item to know what the item is.
That’s ridiculous.
Not everyone owns any of the DLCs.
Predicating knowledge of a product on having purchased previous products is circular logic.
You know because you already know.
If they haven’t figured it out already it’s because they haven’t bought previous items and don’t live on this rather hostile forum.

Furthermore, that pattern doesn’t even hold up at all.
The Turanian expansion pieces are built using different materials than the base Turanian pieces, or any other pieces in the game for that matter. Silk isn’t a frequent roof ingredient.

The Bazaar items are not purely cosmetic, regardless of intention. There are numerous items with altered functionality or construction costs.
The only Star Metal tier claws available in the game (not on Siptah that is) were a Battle Pass item.

All weapons sold in DLS, in the bazaar and in the combat pass = weapons made of star metal. Everything is extremely simple. It’s just an appearance. There is no need to change or guess anything

Riveting tale chap,
what are the stats for Star metal claws?
If it’s just an appearance, it obviously doesn’t create anything not already in game, so how does one learn the non DLC/BP/Bazaar version of Talons of Karmanthes.

Its been this way since the first DLC. Why did you wait five years to bring it up?

My position has, always has, and always will be that such items should have no stats (weapons dealing 0 damage) and should require the illusion bench for any functionality. But that isn’t relevant here.

My question is why the selective outrage now? I’m going to call this whole thing utterly insincere.

This community for some reason likes to play innocently naive for some reason. I know you all aren’t this ignorant. Drop the act.

It was because he said “little else to complain about.” I only stated what I’d rather spend my time complaining about. So yeah, in context of the comment, it was relevant.

The problem, as has always been the problem, is that Funcom neglects to add an asterisk or something that states the actual information. Their flavor text gets out of hand. So yeah, I can see this being an issue for those that don’t own ANY dlc, but the rest of us shouldn’t be so naive. That being said, the fault at the end of the day lies solely on Funcom for not giving the facts. It’s fun to have a description based in lore, but there should be an asterisk that states EXACTLY that this will have a version made of iron and a version made of starmetal. No dragon bone required.

Likewise this one knows you aren’t this obtuse.

First of all, this one didn’t “bring this up”.
It is an existing thread and this one restated an already stated position… in response to someone nay saying a person complaining… In short, this one joined an already active discussion.
They marketed a Dragonbone Katana that is not like any of the other Dragonbone items in game.
This is the first time they added a new weapon skin and named it as tho it were part of an existing in game set that is it’s own distinct tier.

While this one personally isn’t terribly invested (this one is annoyed because it means there is almost no chance of a Katana being added to the Dragonbone set but that is an aside), this one also sees how it could easily cause confusion and irritation.

While this one is in general agreement with your core position (that what should be sold in the Bazaar, ect, are permanent Illusions motifs) this one dovetails on the specifics of this instance. This one would also find an Obsidian Katar or Black Ice Shortsword skin objectional, for the same reasons.

Because Khitan, Aquilonian, Pictish etc. weapons weren’t falsely marketed. The Dragonbone katana was. When it was first on the Bazaar (I don’t know about now, haven’t checked) we didn’t know its stats, or its crafting materials, based on the info on the Bazaar, before buying the item. We could’ve guessed, but the fact that both its name and its appearance strongly hinted at existing Dragonbone weapons made it a reasonable assumption that the new weapon was actually related to Dragonbone weapons, rather than DLC weapons.

All DLCs have specifically mentioned that the weapons included are iron and star metal tier weapons. No ambiguity there. The Bazaar did not. And it’s not the only item with false promises in its description.

Fixed for you.

The Bazaar items need more info added to them, period. For weapons, show the base damage/armor pen/secondary effects if any. For buildings, mention what tier they are. For emotes, give information on whether it’s player only or thrall usable. Etc, etc. More transparency is always better. People shouldn’t have to be buying these items to find this stuff out for the rest of us; informed decision making is important.

Regardless of what’s existed in the past, or is “the usual” is irrelevant since it’s subject to change and up to the devs (see blood crystal weapon that doesn’t follow pattern). Additionally, new players who won’t recognize “the pattern” should not be expected to do a ton of research and scrolling through the forums and youtube and the wiki to maybe find information they are looking for. Item transparency is needed.
