Game mode: Official server 1535 Type of issue: Bug Server type:PVP Region: USA - East
This was reported in Sept but all of those reports are closed. So creating a new bug. I logged off in my base - wearing my silent legion armor. Base is south end of the unnamed city. I have logged out in this method at least once a week for about a year. Why I am blessed with losing everything - all my legendary weapons and tools I am not sure but I would like a hard pass. I lost all my legendary gear about 2 weeks ago when the change to funcom services caused such terrible lag that I lagged into the green wall and after 45 minutes of failed attempts to recover I surrender to my fate. I am not sure if I will bother to go get everything again. I was still recovering from the last time which caused me to quit playing for weeks. It is just too much grind to keep getting all the gear that I keep losing due to game bugs.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug: (this will not be straight forward since as I said, I have done this same thing for almost a year but last night I drew the short straw and lost everything)
Build a base on top of the ruins at the south end of the unnamed city using T4 building pieces.
Equip silent legion armor but swap out the boots with the God Breaker (cold weather) boots.
Log off of the game with full health, water, and food.
4.Log in the next day to see event log says you died due to temperature change.
I don’t recall the ambient temp in the area, but I reckon it’s likely that your choice of material is pushing it up and giving you heatstroke… which AFAIK, your armour won’t protect you against while offline.
Odd that I have been doing this with this gear for almost a year but it kills me for the first time this week??!! Yeah it is desert area which is why I use the silent legion but I have logged off numerous times naked and not died. In fact I logged off right before they hosed the servers naked with the boots on, and did not die. I appreciate the thought but this is a change in functionality. And to assume you can just keep taking legendary gear from players and they will just go grind out another Sword of Crom, a complete set of black blood tools, venom dagger, (OK I am not going to list all of the crap but the grind needed to replace is a long hard road with a low spawn rate - so two back to back stripping of gear - yeah that is just NOT OK but hey - if you want to replace all my gear for me now - that could keep me playing!) . Perhaps if you put in place a recovery mechanism for when you roll out a release that strips us of all our gear (so give us a headstone when we log back in so we can recover) I would be OK with that. But this - Thank you for your donation. I know you are on a PVP server but ooops hehe, you will recover is just BS.
This bug is not new, it’s just new to you. It’s been around for 2+ years and some of us gave up and started logging off naked and putting everything on a chest. Ideally it will be best that they fix this but if you are going to sit and wait get a comfortable pillow…
The issue here is that when you exit the game, the game still thinks you are log in, so you die of either thirst or hunger, or temperature. I have seem to stop this from happening to me by exiting to main menu first then exit to desktop, but I still log out naked just in case, haven’t lost anything important since then.
Did you change your attributes?
Last time I died to weather was while I was building and logged out in an encumbrance build, without the second vitality perk that I’d completely taken for granted - although I’m not 100% sure attributes are factored in while logged out either tbh, and I suspect I fell victim to the next one…)
Did you log out next to, above or below a furnace, hearth, or torch?
They’ll tip the climate effects and again, easy to forget about
Have you changed building materials?
These will effect your interior temperature differently based on which protection they afford
And regardless - with the threat of offline death an ever-looming possibility (not to mention the possibility of having your inventory freely poked around at by a wandering raider), boxing up your belongings before logging out is a fairly well established sensible habit to get in to as @Iorail points out.
Nope. Valid thought and I have experienced the impact of that but no change. I will say Lorial could be right in that I normally switch between a couple of servers so I go to main menu and do not exit directly but I DID exit directly when this happened.
