Early Conan Fan

So, back in the late 80’s I visited Florida for a vacation trip. We went to this huge mall and had our faces cropped onto different celebrities. My brothers went with Indiana Jones and Magnum P.I. and put them on wanted poster backgrounds. Then theres me.

Anybody else have early experiences like this for Conan?

My first experience with Conan pales, but the very first comic I ever bought was Conan during its Marvel run. Took me down a path from which I would never recover (been a comic geek since).

When i was a child, 4 or 5 years i sneak peeked my parents watching barbarian movie (was conan), and viewed this scene and had a nightmare, that i never forgot, with the moment at 1:15 with me on the place of conan being thrown by the monster. On my entire childhood never sawn this movie again, in 80’s we could not control what to watch and we was merely spectators of tv shows. As an adult watching the old classics on internet i meet with conan universe agian and finally could understood the dream.

In the clip, we can see that Conan is a true gamer.

  • Forgot to put on parts of his armor before joining a dungeon group.
  • Walks into the boss room before the other group members, starts the fight and locks them all out.
  • Didn’t read the guide about how to defeat the boss. Only discovers mechanics by accidently stumbling into them.
  • Relies on character skills and ignores the encounter mechanics until it’s almost too late.
  • Hasn’t joined voice chat or uses a really bad headset, so that all that comes across to and from his teammates is desperate screaming.
  • Forgets to loot the body before leaving.

And he ruined the encounter the dm spent hours preparing.

My Father’s collection of paper backs was extensive I read Tolkien Lots of Spy novels sexy and of course the Conan collection in early mid teens. This is my attempt at making Swords from reading books not replicas. Top one made from a Ford draglink heated with oak in a forge I traded for without a proper anvil first one broke tempered this one in our 55 gallon wood stove in the kitchen. Second made from a piece of leaf spring. Many hours spent hacking at pine trees in the woods and at enemies hanging from the big oak tree behind the house fire wood and rolled up bias ply tires and yes I still have a scar. To being young living in the Ozarks heating with wood hauling water and seeing deer bear turkey and listening to coyotes.
