Embedded floor chests for the spaceless

I saw this on YouTube the other day. Storage chests embedded into & laying flush with the floor level that you could walk upon.

In the video the author left some rather large gaps, which I was able to eliminate. This could a be well-known method for all I know, but I certainly wasn’t aware of it and it’s helped me considerably.

Remove two foundations

Then use fence foundations to go down two levels in the usual way.

After adding the second block, remove the lowered fence foundation, fill in the first space then border the sunken area with fence foundations that align with the floor level.

Start placing. This can work without gaps with just two fence foundations running parallel to the sides of the chests.

There’ll be around a 1-2cm external border with them just overlapping in the center a smidge.

You can place things on top, however your mileage will vary on what and which angle it succeeds.

It takes a bit of getting used to but you’re moving around looking at a downward angle anyway.

Note: I tried Eldarium reinforced chests but they start flickering rapidly as soon as they’re enclosed and you stand back a certain distance.

Clever, thanks for sharing.

brilliant

Sounds like we need “Fake” Foundations that have little floor door to a storage spot. XD

That is very nice indeed

Very cool and uses much less space than my storage

Love it, what a great idea:

P.S. Hmmm, you managed to fit 4 in a tile, need to try again

I might have noted I overlapped them as much as possible vertically then came back a centimeter. If you already have fence foundations at either end you can also add one between the blocks to make a tighter fit. Here’s a pic of the overlap I had with a line of 4:

I haven’t tried unbroken lines of 8 yet without a divider.

Was it one of my videos you saw? Regardless, I like this seamless version you’ve accomplished, it looks great!

I like that setup with the roofed edges, are they surrounding the supports? I had never thought of doing that. Next time I have a base with a central support I’m going to.:+1:

Here’s another way using pillars to hide the gaps and inward sloping of stacked chests (pic is low res)

I love this.

Thank you.

Nope, this is the first time I’ve seen your name.

Burn!

Damn, I’m gonna need some burn cream now!
