Trying to find ways to maximize my space in my new…newbie basement.
How do you guys do it? Stack chests on top of one another? Make holes in walls and put chests there? I hear putting chests on anything but foundation might create a 0 stability issue where you can lose a chest and the stuff inside. Tell me your space management tips please, and thank you.
What I do is lower the floor under open areas by 3/8 of a foundation, put a hatch frame over the top, and then set chests down inside. You can fit 6 large chests on each foundation which is quite a bit of extra storage with no extra clutter.
If you prefer not to use hatch doors, you can simply lower by 1/4 a foundation, and the tops of the large chests will be at the same level as the floor.
IF you are trying to go really small and are on PVP, i have been able to fit all i need while in “hiding:” in a 3x3x2.
Dryers, fluid presses and beds stack on bigger crafting benches. so does the artisan bench and armorer table. Not pretty , but makes it efficient. Especially if you just build layers around i in t3 and crate a sort of core center ot your base.
Offline, really isnt a limit.
(workbench) (chest) workbench (chest) etc. I tend to have a Cabinet by main door, Were i “dump” everything (outside expires) Which i sort later. (aka I set up crafting stuff, and go sort as I wait)
I tend to have a 1x2x1(h) Closet with cabinets lined up in a row. Its usually tucked under part of my house that allow it to be under everything. Or away from Purge point.
This way I can walk past and scroll thru each one with ease.
I I I I I I I Instead of [==][==][==][==][==][==]
I don’t have look down or up, QoL.
Online, this is usually center point of my house. This way I can place a guard on each corner.
I use stack large chests do to size, they have odd habits after a few patches… and Cabinets like up face to face looks nice enough, it doesnt bug me to much.
Hey that is a good idea. All my floors and ceilings are one foundation’s worth thick so I have all this extra space I can use. Will need to rearrange a few things but I was halfway there without knowing it.
