ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES:
Here are some suggestions on how to make the environment more alive:
(1). Make the sandstorm more dangerous even to advanced players. I really loved the sandstorm when I first started playing, and would love to see it as a dangerous enemy again.
(2). Make it possible for crocodiles to attack while in water
(3). Add a tornado to some parts of the map or random. I have thought of tornados as extremely scary ever since I was a kid. This would be a very interesting environmental challenge in my opinion.
(4). Underwater bases with air. It would be cool to be able to build a base under water. But when the walls are being breached the water pours in and the base will soon be flooded - adding a risk to having an underwater base.
(5). Adding sharks and maybe a Kraken to the water areas. So when an underwater base is breached the sharks come to visit (and they would ofcourse be able to fight under water).
(6). Adding flying dinosaurs (dont recall their names). Or atleast something that might attack you from above aswell.
(7). Venomous fog that floats arround after rain?
Good morning .
I agree with some of your ideas that deserve to be put forward by Funcom.
The presence of aquatic predators such as sharks and the possibility of underwater attack by crocodiles.
This may encourage you to be careful when crossing streams.
The presence of aerial predators is also a good idea because it would encourage players who climb high cliffs or fly on bats to be more careful.
Thank you for replying. I am glad some of the suggestions where to your liking. I agree that those two you liked are the most important ones. They are just at a brainstorming level at the moment, so please feel free to alter or develop any of the suggestions.
May I add that I would also like a wider variety of prey animals (like beavers, gophers, meerkats like creatures) because some parts of the map are too lifeless.
And I would like longer storms as well.
Thank you for your reply and positive enthusiasm. I am glad you liked my suggestions, and yes, longer storms sounds like a very good idea - it would both add to the danger of the storm and atmosphere of the environment.
More prey is always welcomed. I totally agree that many part of the map could be more lively and probably gain from an unique category or animals.
Good evening .
the idea of ââbringing more animals of the prey type and good but before that I think (from my point of view) that giving more realism to the fauna present would be a good thing.
When you are close to a prey and it does not react to the presence of a predator (or the opposite situation) it harms the immersion.
it may take a while but they may eventually do all of these things. I dont know if you know but Funcom is working on a new survival game based on the Dune franchise. Now one thing Funcom does alot is reuse assets from their other games, like we are getting ânew armor and weaponsâ recently in Conan but they are actually from their other Conan MMO âAge of Conanâ i believe itâs called, the Sandreaper enemies are also from this game. Now in the Dune game if you watch the trailer Funcom is reusing assets again and putting the sand storm from Conan in the Dune game. So what we could have here is an asset cycle, as Funcom creates or modifies their assets they could get reintroduced into Conan. So if they do maybe create a âheavy sandstormâ which happens as a rare occurrence in Dune it could get applied to Conan. As well as other assets like prey animals, building pieces, armor and weapon sets. Even tho Dune is a Sci Fi setting, it would be alot easier for them to just re skin stuff from it and port it over here. So i think after the Dune launch , if it goes well, weâll start seeing the âasset cycleâ breath a little life into Conan. We just have to wait for itâŠAlso hopefully the main dev team comes back and fixes all the bugs that popped up since they left, fingers crossed.
More diverse weather and weather effects (say, on temperature) would be great.
Re: (6) the bat demons seem to be the appropriate âwandering monster,â but the game doesnât really do wandering monsters at the moment. If they did a small number of relatively powerful wandering monsters - flying pack of bat demons that might swoop down on an exposed player and initiate a fight, for instance, and a pack of sand beasts wandering through the map randomly with each sandstorm - it might make for a much more âliveâ environment with relatively little impact on performance. (That said the dream, for me, is frequent wandering animals acting as predator/prey for each other more broadly, occasionally traveling to pools and streams for water).
