Eternal server lags / Let's raise the topic

I want to make an important appeal to the game developers from Funcom.
Enough time has already passed and a lot of updates have been released, but in no update can you solve the problem with server lags.
All official and all private servers are always lagging. As soon as the online server reaches 30+ people, the server begins to pull hard and teleport players, which greatly spoils the perception of the game.
Most often these are PVP servers. When a large online server + raid timings begin, servers are even closed from strong lags.
You have a lot of official servers hanging, of which 4-5 servers are active filled with players. The rest just so simply exist…
Many who understand this say that the Conan game itself is written on an old engine and even if you open a private server on strong hardware, the ira will still lag.
Remove all unnecessary servers. Open 10 pvp, 10 pve, 10 pve-c and focus on the stability of the server and the game will gather the momentum of the players again.
At the moment, you are offering to buy the game for ~ $ 20 and run around hanging on all servers. All updates come out raw and errors are fixed for a very long time.
The game itself is very interesting and works well in pvp format. But these lags very much kill the interest of the game.
I know I’m not the first one to write about this, but I think it’s time to take up the game and focus on quality and performance!
I see that you are working on other projects, but it makes sense from your games if they are all of poor quality. Do not do quantity, but quality!
Perhaps the priority will be to rewrite the game on a new engine and re-release it as Conan Exiles Reborn.
Or still modify what is there and run a small number of servers, but with an emphasis on performance. If you don’t take up the game now, it may be too late later, she may just die…

You can get 30 players online???

Official PvE servers die at 10 players.

Or maybe they will just wait for Robert to release his server meshing program in 2024, see if it works or not, and wait for that dollar hungry being to rent the right to use his program to games and others. Then? No more lag e-ver~ :money_mouth_face:
Trolling apart, how much would it cost to write on a new engine as you say? Is the one they use truly outdated? :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

We gather 60-70 people and this keeps the players until the day of the raid. After such strong lags, only 20-30 players remain, and after a week there are only 5-10 people left. It’s time to fix it

Mine doesn’t. You’ll get farther with your appeal if you don’t make claims that are objectively false.

Believe me, there is not a single lie in my words. I’ve been playing on various private servers for a very long time and I see this all the time. If I was lying, then why did I create such a topic to resolve this issue?

I didnt say you were lying; that implies intent. I’m saying it’s false, because I can say from experience that my private server suffers no apparent lag for any of my users. If I run an EL or Siptah server, you can’t even tell its remote (unless someone tried to login with a ping limit from europe which has nothing to do with the server). Lag simply does not exist for all users and all hardware. That doesnt make you a liar; it makes you wrong.

What difference in lag does it make 10 servers or 1000 servers?

So you say lag doesnt exist for all users. Lag exists for quite a lot of people regardless of hardware, saw enough posts of people experiencing these accursed lag spikes or desync issues. I rented a server, saw some serious lag issues, decided to check if the problem is with my server or with the game. I went on about 15 servers did the same steps that I did on my own server and all of the 15 servers showed the exact same issue. NPC’s moving erratically sometimes teleporting, hits landing on me with a delay even through I know it didnt land, rocks/ironstone/coal/etc. crumbling into nothing when mined but only after a delay like 1 second from the last pickaxe hit.

It certainly happens for people; undisputed. Hardware tho can overcome this. That’s why I spent a lot of money on a good server. You get what you pay for. It can be overcome.

I use a 4.27 GHz processor, gen 4 nvme, ddr4 ram and set the tick rate at 60.

This means that 50+ people do not play PvP and raid times on your server. That’s why you don’t feel these lags. Trust my experience, lags do not come from the car you rent. It comes from the game itself, very strong desync and other lags

You rent a crappy car, expect it to run like crap. You said every private has these issues. I suggest you try better hardware.

Its an issue on the game’s side and not server side. I rented a server roughly a week ago, several of my friends experienced the same desync. Since it failed, a friend who has a pretty high end overclocked pc decided to host a private server and guess what exact same desync there too, not only on my side but every other friend experienced it.
I decided to go through about 50 servers official and unofficial, rented, etc. I had the same desync on all of em. Not on single player or co-op, only on the servers.

Well its conclusive then. Those of us without a problem are just wrong. Its clearly everyone, even if everyone doesnt know it. I’m now outraged to find out I’ve been suffering without knowing it. How many others suffer in ignorance, not knowing this problem is happening without ever experiencing it directly? Those poor souls. Oblivious to the misery they are in.

Welcome, welcome @Zakrulan, this is one of the most succinct explanations out there on the subject. All of your post is worth reading from a level of symptoms. Kudos.

I have played on Private servers, but most of my 6k hours is on Officials. You might find this impossible to do, but I try and have an out of state friend handy with a great internet connection, who can join the server and see if his experience is different. Often times, it’s only me, and I’d begun to accept it.

One time we joined 1880 and he was playing like silk, and my experience was so bugged I could hardly land a shot on an imp. And just like you posted, it happens early on and stays that way. So we moved on to another server, and voila, it was fine for the both of us, and we ultimately stayed there.

In other words, there is more at play than just a server, and the inference to me is in routing. As in, the path you take on your various networks to get to and from the server. Sometimes these routes can be broken for an entire telecom system.

In my case, the source of the 1880 routing issue was the predominant phone carrier in all of Colorado. In other words, all players using CenturyLink in Colorado would have faced the same glitches and unplayability. We know this because when I switched over to another provider as a test, 1880 was now playable.

I appreciate your so-far methodical approach and will appreciate any data you are willing to provide about your and your friends’ experiences.

Well, honestly I tried everything on trying to find a workaround this, I had a server rented from gportal where me and a few of my friends played. At first it was more or less fine but later on kind of after a day since I rented that server from gportal (I thought it was a good idea to rent it from the one that has most of the official servers) all went crazy and those symphtoms started to appear.

Went through gportal support for a few days, trying everything but in the end I accepted their offer on a refund.

So after that I started to go a handful of servers both the official ones and private servers (any and all that I could connect to modded or not) and I experienced the same on all servers.

I went through like a lot of servers testing the same three things: After creating my character, I went to make a hatchet and a weapon. First was hitting a branch with the hatchet, if the branch took its time in disappearing then I went on to mining rocks if those too took their time in crumbling on last hit, I went to find some hostile npcs and if they started to move in a glitchy way, teleporting, rubberbanding and having those missed hits that somehow landed on me. Afterwards I ended up on the conclusion of being a game side problem since two of my friends also did these three steps on several servers and ended up with the same or similar results.
I note it too that I thought it was a network issue on my side but that wouldnt explain why my friends also experience it. I have the fastest and best internet provider here in Romania so the network issue is almost non-existent.

This is all the information I have on this. Honestly I would prefer to have a private server rented from gportal or similar site than having to set up one myself or play with my friends in Co-op mode where they are tethered to the host.

A problem you can’t work around with gportal is the load on their switches. If they can’t handle the total load of every user pinging their system at a given time, you can’t do anything about that because you have no control over their hardware. If you have awesome internet, you should just host the server locally on a dedi machine and your problem will probably go away.

m8, I pointed out once in a previous reply that it wasnt only gportal servers that I experienced this but other servers too outside of gportal. From privately made but public servers to other rented servers from other providers. Took me quite a while but I connected to servers hosted by Zap-Hosting, Shockbyte, Apex Hosting, Scalacube, 4Netplayers, Nitrado. Host Havoc is the only one I couldn’t find a server hosted by them, yet! Host Havoc looks the most promising one tho but its the more expensive one among these server hosting services.

And I will reiterate, with all those hosts, you are at the mercy of their network traffic and the hardware they provide. The traffic is also going to be impacted by other games they host potentially. Some are undoubtedly better than others but if you want a lot of people connecting at once to your server without lag, you need to make sure the network can handle that many connections at once in addition to having great hardware. This is why some of us dont have this issue. I control every aspect of my server because if I have an issue, I want it solved. Its common to host multiple servers at hosts on the same machine so you are also competing with requests on the same machine for multiple servers. It’s not just a CE thing; its a UE thing, a hardware thing and a network thing.

Do what you will, but way more than CE is involved in lag and with the right setup, the starting conditions can be vastly better. This is all before anyone does crazy things on their server like mods and simoly overbuilding. Enough users building junk shacks will bring any server to its knees which adds another wrinkle.

If it matters that much to you, the only answer is to take all the above into your hands. Your server, your network, your rules on building on the server.
