Exiles lands Siptah... What about a new one?

We have 2 maps, what about another one, I like exploring new ruins, dungeons, and stuff, anyone want another map, or expanding the existing one? What yall you think about this

I don’t think Siptah was as much of a success as they had expected and the new monetization models don’t really work for new maps. For these reasons, I am quite skeptical we will see any new official maps, at least not any time soon.

As for expanding, Den did say that some expanding and new dungeons were possible, however, he also said that dungeons were expensive. I think that expanding is more likely than a new map, but probably also not something we will see soon.

not going to happen clearly they have had well over a year to expand again but haven’t. They’re not AAA developers which is why they move from project to project. Just ask everyone they betrayed that invested time in Age of Conan.

If they were a major AAA developer, we would see Exiled Lands rereleased every year with a new set of characters to play. And when I say Exiled Lands I mean the original without the savannah, the north, or the jungle. But those would be paid DLCs with unique content and equipment that is more powerful than what you normally get.

I for one am glad that Funcom is not a AAA developer, we have enough BS with Activision-Blizzard, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Zenimax, Electronic Arts, Rockstar and now companies like CD Projekt Red following suite.

Do I want a new map or to see the existing one expanded? Yes to both.

But…

It’s complicated.

There are indisputable technical problems when it comes to expanding the Exiled Lands map. I could go and dig up Multigun’s summary, but I’ll skip that for now and post a link only if people are interested.

Yes, it’s true that Dennis said, during one of the streams, that it might be possible, but that most likely just means that they have some ideas on how to overcome those technical challenges. As a software developer, I know that a statement like that is no guarantee that those ideas will be successfully implemented.

As for getting a new map, yeah, that’s even more complicated. As others pointed out, they tried that with Siptah and it wasn’t a resounding success they expected. Making a whole new map is really, really costly, so there are two ways we could see that happen: either as monetized content, or as an addition to the base game subsidized by the revenue from the monetized content.

I believe it’s highly unlikely they’ll release a whole new map via the Bazaar. Extrapolating from the pricing of the current Bazaar offerings, the price of the new map would have to be prohibitively high – at least as expensive as a brand new game. I somehow doubt they’ll do that, but hey, I’ve been wrong about them before, especially when it comes to stuff that has to do with money :stuck_out_tongue:

That would, in my opinion, leave only the option of adding a new map to the base game. While it’s not impossible, it would most likely happen as a new “age” (cf. Age of Sorcery), not as a chapter in the current age. Even so, it would be a bit of a gamble, especially because the Battle Pass would have to be linked to it somehow, which would probably annoy those who prefer Exiled Lands and Siptah. Given that Funcom’s current strategy seems to be “get as much money with as little risk as possible”, I’m kinda not hopeful for a new map.

I played the crap outta siptah after playing years of exiled and now I have zero interest of going back to siptah. It got boring and the over powered weapons/armor aren’t really that fun anymore. Exiled is still more lively after all this time.

New map yes please but highly unlikely

Well…

Years ago, Funcom said we wouldnt get a new map. Then we did.

Years ago, Funcom said we wouldnt be getting mounts. Then we did.

Anything is possible!

Sorcery has always been an expected addition. The question was never would we get it, it was when would we get it.

They gotta add more to siptah especially base locations there’s not a lot of in game structures to build in or caves. It’s all like pillar bases hard to defend tbh especially for smaller clans

I’m open to a new map but only as an expansion, not a new leveling map where you can’t cross transfer!

Expected from players, not from Funcom. They dangled the “we dont have the resources or the time” excuse at us, then pow, they dropped it.

All Im saying is anything is possible despite what Funcom is telling us.

I’d love nothing more than a new map.

I really enjoyed Siptah and the new content it brought.

What are you talking about? Funcom always intended to add sorcery.
