Your initial false assertion is that Funcom “are not losing anything by giving them as two free slots to those who are returning and link their account”.
That’s clearly based on the equally false assumption that whether an individual player can get Aurum without paying cash is somehow the same as whether the collective player base can acquire said Aurum without anyone spending cash.
From the seller’s - i.e. Funcom’s - perspective, which unlike yours is actually relevant to the question of whether said seller would be losing anything, any Aurum item really is a cash only item.
They may not care whether the person spending the cash and the person getting the item are one and the same, but the item is not going anywhere without somebody having spent cash. And therefore they’d be (potentially) losing cash by giving it away that item for free.
Well they clearly aren’t losing out - otherwise it would have £7.99 as the option to buy the slot, not 1000 aurum - which can be gained with 0 cash.
if they wanted to capitalise on that it would be a “Cash only” option - so FC must not be losing anything here.
I don’t care for who put the aurum into circulation to begin with but it’s not a false assumption to say a player can get aurum without cash - its an actual fact that you can. The cost here being to the individual playing.
You can split hairs till the cows come home but then you would probably say they were already there before the hairs were split.
My question remains unanswered -
Why, after all the noise made about linked accounts, would funcom not still have available the 2 free slots for TSW linked accounts?
To me this makes no sense as by their own available options do not seem to be losing money from it since it can be gained by an individual not having to part with cash for it.
I myself can earn 48k mofs a day - thats 250 aurum by the current rate, no cash - but i got aurum. I can sell aurum saved for mofs as and when i need them on my chars - no cash. I can sell stuff on Auction for mofs that i have gleaned from dungeons and raids for mofs and exchange it into aurum for extra, no cash.
For me, the assumption that a “Cash only” option being in place, is where they are making their money and will not budge on that due it being the money spinner for FC - so if there is the “Aurum” option, they must not be making the bulk of their money from such - as it can be gained for free.
Differing opinions on the same matter i guess - but not my original topic or bone of contention with the char slot issue.
I am sorry, but you are clearly totally ignorant of how the F2P business model works, and as long as you refuse to even consider your opinion might actually completely ignore the realities of that, you are not worth further the effort of further attempts at explanation.
You are correct, your Aurum is free. And thus, it should be no problem for your friend to buy character slots with their free Aurum. SInce your Aurum is free, you might even consider finding ways to gift sufficient free Aurum to them to buy the slots they need.
(Note: Your Aurum is free because heck, it didn’t cost me anything.)
Actually, one question: why would your friend even need free character slots, anyways, given Aurum is free and they can just buy free slots for free? Essentially, Funcom is giving them free slots anyways!

The perks of the first transfer were offered to reward active TSW players. Anyone who didn’t care enough for four months should be grateful that they can at least transfer their cosmetics.
